Hey everyone...Just wanted to throw an idea out there and see if anyone would be interested. When I was stationed at Laughlin years back, a group of us bass fishermen use to hold once a week bass pot tournaments. Everyone would show up at the ramp, put $10 in a hat and fish for a specified time. We would come back to the ramp with our 1 fish (big fish only tourney) and winner would take all.

It was a low threat, just for fun type of event. We had anywhere from $100 to $150 in the pot each week. If we got to $150, we would do 1st and 2nd, if less than 15 people, then winner take all. We could do a AOTY format with all species counting. One fish, winner take all type of deal.

Would anyone be interested in this from time to time? Lastly, I am in the Sacramento area so I would hold these somewhat close to home (AR, Port, Delta, Folsom, ect...)

Sounds fun, I'm in Sac.
Myself and some friends do the same thing off Usal beach once a year. $20 buy in, $10 for longest fish besides ling (No Salmon) and $10 for ling cod, winner takes all. Usal beach is a short break surf launch and it can come down to surf perch depending on the WX. All in good fun and lots of yard sales which makes great video. :smt044

Pot tourney? I'm in!  :smt044
But seriously, it's been a while since the last mbf. Remember the virtual mbfs? That w/b cool too--like AOTDay. But it'd probably be harder to collect the $ after.

The points would be as follows:

Kokanee = 10 pts/in
Sturgeon = 3.75 pts/in
Lake (Mackinaw) Trout = 6 pts/in
Steelhead = 6 pts/in
Panfish = 12.5 pts/in
Smallmouth = 10 pts/in
Spotted Bass = 9 pts/in
Catfish = 6 pts/in
Largemouth = 8 pts/in
Trout = 7.75 pts/in
Salmon = 5 pts/in
Striped Bass = 5.5 pts/in

Measuring to the 1/4 inch I'm guessing? Is that how AOTY does it?

I was part of a group down in San Diego called kayak fishing addicts. We would hold a monthly MBA, money between addicts, but the kicker was if you won, you had to plan the next one. We had a little display kayak that was the perpetual trophy too. The people in the club wouldn't let a week go buy before they were hounding the previous winner for the next MBA.
