Albacore by kayak postponed :smt011 :smt009 :smt009  Sorry for the letdown as I have been excited about doing this for a long time.  It will happen soon and I will make sure to have a good report with lots of pics and video.

Thanks for all the responses and advice.  I will keep yall posted.  My friend with the Grady White would make a good tow boat, but they are out of town til Thursday.  My Shelter Cove buddy isn't ready to do it yet.  My boat needs repair and I don't have a crew ready nor the gas money.  NEXT time...

I need a better tow boat and more prep time so it looks like I will just stay on the boat and get em or go get my AOTY pacific halibut.  If I do go on a boat tomorrow it would be 16.5ft center console with an 81year old captain.

Rob, when you say tow boat...do you mean to get towed behind the boat while trolling? Or do you mean towed out tothe tuna grounds? Because I wouldn't advise getting towed all the way out there...that's crazy. Maybe just mothership the yak out there and locate fish, then hop in & get dragged behind the boat while trolling. And have a way to quickly release the tow rope, in case you hookup or in case there's a triple or quad hookup on the boat because that could turn into a total cluster-f. Or decapitation by braided line.

I mean towing the kayak by itself to the tuna grounds with me in the boat then dropping me off and picking me up later.

Send Alan Tani a pm, he's spent a lot of time thinking about it. He's a bit far south to act as your mothership but has some good ideas.

Back in march I was approached by a captain out of Newport OR about helping him set up mother ship trips for albacore. He was thinking he could get the cost down to around $300 for a 12 hr trip. I can see if he's still interested, I have been meaning to go up there and look at his boat and help him get the process down for mother shipping kayakers.
