Hah! My kids did the same thing when I brought home my new t13, they even asked to eat dinner in it.

That sounds great! I haven't done much salmon fishing but let me know what to bring and I'm there.

GREAT Kayak. My first 'real' kayak. My actual first one was a barge called a Salish tandem made by Pacific Northwest Design.
Had they kept everything the same on that tarpon 16 with the exception of a tank well in the back they would have killed in sales.

I'm probably insane, but one of my winter projects will be to see if I can thermoform an insert replacement for the rear hatch.

This would give me the best of both worlds, storage for overnight camping trips to paddle in only spots; and a place to drop my fishing crate (or dive gear if I get back into that) on day trips.

My kids, who still think this thing is theirs, think the hatches are where they get to sit when we go out,  :smt003.

I have a much sought after tank well insert for that kayak. It took me a year to find it. Doesn't carry a lot, but is better than having to get in the hatch all the time.

Do you have access to a Thermaform machine?

I was thinking about the machine we used to have at school, pretty much all you need to do is make a negative shape, it would look like an oblong tophat, then use that as your mold, I was thinking of using corrugated plastic as the hat part, cast a little plaster just around the rim to get the right rim shape, tack it with hot glue then reinforce the crap out of the mold with JB weld or bondo. Hell while you are forming one for yourself, do a dozen of them and put them up for sale, those are like white whales, lots of folks looking for them but no-one has actually seen them...
