The Predator 13 comes with a transducer scupper designed to fit Hummingbird FFs.  I've owned both Hummingbird and Lowrance FFs and I prefer the Lowrance (just personal preference).

I believe the Predator 13s transducer scupper is the same as that on the OK Ultras - has anyone mounted a Lawrence transducer (either regular or DSI) in this location?  Did it work?  If so, any pictures?

Below is the transducer scupper:

If yakhopper doesn't chime in you should  PM him. I think he has his 4.3 set up that way and he's on the OK and Lowrance team.

Thanks Bones - I knew he was with OK but didn't know he was running a Loweance.

Hi guys,
The predator has the same scupper hole as the ultra, however, they weren't kind enough to add the two threaded inserts. I'm sure it can be done, but until my predator arrives, I'm not sure how I'm going to make it work. I know I don't want to drill and bolt in the bottom of the hull. I'm thinking of welding a small plate to some stainless allthread for a through hull mount, attaching the transom mount on the plate, and a nut/washer on top.
Hope this helps.

See Ya Soon,
Eric / Yakhopper

P.S.
You could always use the Lowrance scupper mount, but I would prefer something more stable than the plastic allthread.

Thanks yakhopper -- I'm assuming i will have to rig it similar to what I did on my Jackson.  I used the Lowrance scupper mount there also and it has worked great.  I just want to make sure the transducer is tucked up out of the way.

Doing an eyeball assessment and a little measuring it does not appear either the regular or DSI transducer will fit in the deepest recess.  Regular tansducer is 3 1/4 - 3 1/2" long.  The deepest recess is just shy of 3 1/2" and it tapers the further you go in.

Guess Ill just have to buy the FF and see what I can come up with.  And, given the measurements I'm going to play it safe and purchase the Mark 4 vs. the Mark 4 DSI.

Regular transducer (1st pic); DSI transducer (2nd pic).

If you look at my post http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=36956.0 You will see how the transducer will fit on the Predator (same as the 4.3).
to accomplish this, you need to have a plate to mount the transom bracket to.
A simple piece of stainless connected to a piece of all-thread shouls accomplish this quite well.
When mounted this way, the transducer will be flush with the bottom of the hull and has not proven to be a problem in a year of fishing the S.J. River.

Perfect - that's exactly what I was hoping to find - a good description and picture.  Thank you!

Ocean, go elite 4 gold.  DSI is OK for shallow stuff.

Another option would be to cut the mounting tabs off the transom mount. Then drill a hole and file it square to fit a caridge bolt. Then drill a hole in the rectangular plate/washer. That way you wouldn't have to worry about bolt heads riding on the hull.

Bill - thanks for the recommendation.  No doubt the Elite 4 Gold is a power hitter, but I already pulled the trigger on my ole trusty Mark 4.  I currently have this FF and had planned on pulling it over to the new boat - but when I tried removing the pass through wire fitting to get the transducer out I was surprised to see how strongly the marine goop had welded it in place.  I didn't want to take the chance damaging the other kayak.

Mike - keep the ideas rolling brother - like your idea.  We'll figure this out :-)

If you go with all thread or carridge bolt DIY. Use 1/4-20. A toilet bolt cover with snap on top of the nut for a clean top side.

Eric, did you use a Lowrance Transducer Mount for the transducer?  I can't tell by the pictures how the metal bracket is affixed to the kayak.  Best I can tell, it's bolted directly to the kayak.

That is correct,
On the 4.3 there are two threaded inserts that allow you to just direct bolt the transducer.

My thoughts are to attach a small plate to all thread through the scupper. The plate will allow you to attach the trans mount.
