Things have been Soooo hot in Ukiah we headed to the coast to give Elk a go.  The hill is still as big as always, and the swell wasn't huge, but it was full of mojo and confused.  I helped Jelly launch and then tried to weasel in on the same little set myself...bad call.  Toook a full body blast that sent my hat into the tankwell...refreshing!

Tried some of the usual spots butnobody was home.  Paddled north through a bunch of wash and onto a little boiler with a great reef around it.  Jelly was there about two minute before loading up...

About ten minutes later it was my turn...

After a lull in the action we decided to head north for a little picnic.  Once in Cuffeys Cove we were protected and it laid down.  As always the scener was hideous!

We had lunch and played a little soccer with a wayward bouy.  The beach was sweet...

Things continued to build so we packed it up and paddled for home.  The landing was nuts but neither of us munched, despite assuming it was a guarantee.  As always, Chris' fish was bigger 32 and just shy of 11#, mine was 30.5 and just shy of 10#s.  Got the heck out and came back to Ukiah to roast!!!

Nice pics Sean, looks like a good way to get out of the heat!  Great to see you out with Jelly, I assume he is your son(?), I plan to get my son a kayak in the fairly near future, he just turned 9 and fishes with me now from the front deck of my FND.

Chris, and all of my kids, started fishing when they were about 2 to 2.5.  We had a "real" boat til jelly was about 8, and after we sold it we switched to yaks to hold us over...still holding!  Chris rode up front in a tandem for a while, and he's been solo for about 2 years or so.

I love the times we have together, and I'm confident that it will last through the tough years ahead.  We may not always see eye to eye, but we'll always like to fish together.

We were "guiding" the girls at Leah's grandparents yesterday.  Wide open bluegill on the fly rod.  WAY too much fun.

Sean,
I REALLY wanted to join you, it was only 108 today in Healdsburg!!!  With it being this hot and us NOT having air conditioning, I felt my services would be essential keeping everyone sane at home with Ella (4 months!).  Nice looking fish as always Sean and Chris. Give me a call this week.

sorry I had to flake out, but the wife in fact was suffering from the Bottle Flu from the party the night before.... Since I had to miss the Elk trip my WAF account was brought up to the Max amount....  She owes me big....  Hopefully I will get another chance to fish with the WHITE's????/

Joe-it was so hot in Ukiah I just couldn't believe it...about 115...smokin.  It was even warm in Elk, but much cooler than here.  You're always welcome to join us.

Kickinbass-Just hope Laura is feeling better. We'll go again soon.  It probably wasn't the best rookie surf launch day anyhoo.
