Looking at all the reports & couldn't stand it any longer so decided to take monday off.
The weather is suppose to be okay on Monday.
Sunday is going to depend on how late we stay at PIF (so most likely no).
Use to launch at Campbell cove but Doran is fine if people like there (probably less PB traffic).
Haven't done this trip in a while so company welcome!

Naoaki, watching the weather and such. If weather is okay I am taking Mi Padre out on the boat Sunday and kayaking Monday.

Almost caught up on smoking fish. Tomorrow will be the last batch going into three smokers. Here is my method for salmon candy..

One 22 oz bottle of Newcastle Ale (waste of beer..I think not)
4 fresh garlic cloves
Thirty black  pepper corns
One quarter cup of local honey
Half cup of soy (that's all the salt needed)

Put all that in a blender and blend to get rid of carbonation.
Put strips of fish in a freezer ziplock bag and gently toss to get all the ifs mixed thoroughly.

Let rest on tile counter (cool) for awhile. Burp bag to remove all air (not good for fish) and Put in refer overnight

Drain off liquid and place on smoker racks for half an hour to cure.

Put in smoker (Little chief) and load pan with cherry wood chips (hickory or hard woods is too burpy)

Smoke for 15 hours or desired dryness.  Bag in refer (open bag)

Close bag and let cure for a day or so to let moisture balance thoughout fish.

Eat in the next couple days or vac seal and  freeze the next day...balances out moisture even more.

Enjoy.....

Do you need the third person on Sunday?
Otherwise see you on Monday (or maybe Sunday)!

Gino,
If I were you, I would ask somebody more successful than me (like O2b-Allen, Bird-John, GB2-Scott, etc...)...
I'm using my down rigger but looks like most people are using deep six (I like double better).
You can also use sinker release but make sure to get more than two of 2-2.5lb ball if you do.
I use bigger flasher but some people like dodger.
I use 40lb fluoro but others use 20-40lb mono for leader (4-6ft).
I like to use tray anchovy for bait using Krippled Anchovy or Rotary Salmon Killer (RSK), but some people like to use Apex (watermelon color is popular).
I think the fish are around 30-80ft, so I will start like 50ft & keep my eyes on my fishfinder.

Hope this help a little.

Tomorrow should be okay, but I might hanging out at PIF late...

Good luck & be safe if you go!

Naoaki

Naoaki, I want to go too. I'm still on the fence though.
Is Monday's weather better?
Batt, what is your lure and what is the distance from weight to hook? It looks pretty lengthy.
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

Yeah, Monday looks better, but I think pretty close.
Swell 3-6ft & wind ~10ft.
Hawg trough w/ abking extension is 40inch and the tension release looks like 6 inch & another 6 inch to sinker release?
So it looks like 4-5ft leader all together which is perfect I think.

PM me for my cell #, Juan (if you don't have it already).
