im freaking out right now. The boat is full of fuel with the tuna gear aboard but Im leaving for a wedding in Denver for 4 days later today. Ive now made it clear as day to the family that i WILL NOT make any arrangements to be at ANY functions during the summer fishing season. period. The weather looks good for the next few days. Id try get a 6 pack. I think it looks really good.

It alsmost time.  They are definitely showing up north in Newport/Coos Bay.  We had guys look out of Eureka and Shelter Cove the last week or so.  The water has been there, heck we have been trolling for salmon in water as warm as 59/60.  Its just a matter of time.  This year I will be in the West Coast Tuna tournament because I would have won last year with the big slob I got on the coldwater break 16 miles out of Shelter Cove.  I cant wait to hear the reels screaming.

I'm off to iCast on Tuesday then up to Oregon for the weekend.  Hmmm ... may have to look into a tuna charter up there.

I will be scouting Tuna while there.  Shoot, I may be able to get on a Humboldttuna.com member's boat.

Heard the water is getting warmer 60 miles out down here in SC. My friend won the west coast tourney last year. Cant wait for a chance at some tuna this year

Yeah, some good scores from the Guide recently and I heard a boat wacked en at the 601. I'm getting my gear together right now. If the salmon don't start biting after this blow, I'm gonna head west.

Albacore season began yesterday!
They aren't that far out. But I ain't paddling 120mi roundtrip.

mmmmm Tuna

Gearing up right now for a run out of Shelter Cove in the morning and possibly stay overnight on the water.  2 days for sure of tuna fishing.   We are getting the boat ready for our first fifty plus mile run offshore for the "chicken of the sea" of the year. We will be loading 500lbs of shaved ice the bleed bucket will be attached to the swim step the insulated fish bags will be filled with ice and secured to the bow rail on the port and starboard. This is my favorite kind of fishing. When you are that for offshore the water changes and there is lots of different kinds of life. There are BIG FISH out there. It has happened more than once to my captain that he did not have the right tackle to catch what he hooked. We will be bringing wasabi and soy sauce with us so if we get hungry we can have some albacore sashimi. We will have BIG rods and and reels with 130lb test line in the chance to hook that big tuna or swordfish comes a calling.

I will let yall know what the doobie to tuna ratio is.  Even though we may catch lots of tuna, it may be a fairly even ratio.

Time get the ice, swimbaits, chum bait, lots of beer, food, and start twisting phatties.
Then its time to start wacking and stacking!!!!
