Hey everyone.  First off this is an awesome forums, I am frequent member of about 5 other forums and this one seems to be top notch.  Sorry in advance for some noob questions.  I have searched and I was not able to find what I am looking for in previous threads even though I am sure these are topics that have been covered.

I am very green to the kayak scene.  I was on a lifetime 120 for about 8 months and really enjoyed it.  I did a few modifications like adding a rod holder, seat pad, and an cleat for a anchor.  It worked but nothing was ever easy.

I recently upgraded to a hobie outback.  For the first time in my life I bought something brand new and I am very satisfied.  I have 1 salt trip to Ocean Cove under my belt in the outback and it was amazing, I have about 10 lake trips and they are always great.  Things are so much easier operating out of the hobie.  But I am looking to make them even easier.

I have commissioned a milk crate and added a vertical 3 rod holder to that.  I also have a cooler that fits nicely between the seat back and my milk crate.  Outside of that I have done nothing except of the sailing rudder and turbo fins.  Everything is tethered or tied down.

The next thing I want to do is a anchor trolley system.  I looked at the west marine unit and it seems decent.  Would that system work in a river?  Can anyone recommend or post a link of how best to install an anchor trolley system?  I plan on steelhead fishing out of the outback and from my previous experience I know having the anchor at the bow or stern is the only way to go for anchoring in a current or wind.

I would like to get a floating gaff, are there any recommendations for those?

I am going to add a fish finder but that topic is well covered on this site.

Lastly,  Here is the gear that I bring with me in the salt water.  If I am missing something let me know.

wetsuit
PFD
vhf radio
knife
1st aid kit
net
compass
whistle
head lamp
stringer
tackle
rod
pliers
bottled beer (for fuel and used for beating ling cod :smt003
sunscreen
hat
sunglasses
water
fishing license
measuring board
positive attitude / fear of big blue.

THANK YOU for the tips everyone.

Welcome. Bring a camera or we won't believe you went out. Look for QRAS in the search function for anchor advise. I use a trolley from ACK and I believe there is a Hobie specific one there too. I like the one with the Harken pulleys.

Yeah there pretty easy to rig up.  Some of us have installed a down rigger to our OB's.

that QRAS looks awesome!  I had never figured I would want to cut loose to fight a big fish but it makes total sense.

a down rigger sounds amazing.  I would have thought that would be too much drag to tow with a yak?

You're fishing for steelhead so that would require the need of a pyramid anchor.

do the pyramid anchors hold better than a folding anchor?  I had good luck with my folding anchor in the russian river, but I never really tried in a moderate current.

Dude! don't forget the chain steering wheel!

Pyramid anchor do hold better in any white water system.  Also, the last thing you don't want is a stuck anchor.  That's why you want a pyramid anchor.  The cheapest route is a Scotty Anchor lock with mount... http://www.scottypaddlesports.com/kayak-fishing-equipment-accessories/accessories/anchorlock.html

Just make sure you take off the lock.. http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=44280.0

Down riggers don't impart enough drag to be problematic.  you already have the turbo fins and sailing rudder, so you wouldn't notice it until you stop and glide, (Hull will pull to side with DR installed and deployed)
Operating the DR, depending on where you install it can be challenging.  Mine is located right behind the seat, on left side in the rear most gunnel tray. It's a "Scotty lake troller"  (Little tiny one) 2 or 4 lb(?) torpedo weight.
I still have the original steel cable on my DR reel, and it "Sings" up a chorus!  I need to replace the steel cable with some 80lb braid of some sort.

I have my Scotty DR that slips into one of the Scotty flush mounts that I put in the side tray of my Outback right behind the rudder up and down pullers.  I also put the braided line on my DR.  I think I used 60lb.  Works great.

What size pyramid ancor should i be looking for?  I had a 8 lbs mud anchor previously and it does not hold the outback in anything windy or in moving water.
