What a beautiful day at LL and another great LS hookup!  We found new clamming ground thanks to our "Columbus" Hai  :smt002 Everyone had a great time and no problem finding the clams.  I'll let the pictures tell the story...

Thanks again LS for posting the hookup. I had a great time digging and the feast/company afterward was enjoyable as always.

Can anyone identify this species? Tasted great!

I didn't have time to get them to "relax" but as I was processing a few of them, I pulled out live crabs! I didn't realize that they targeted them.

A friend owed me money and paid it back with a large bill so I might as well use it.

That clam you wanted identified is a Washington clam. It is one of my favorites no neck peeling required.
Wish I had joined you, looks like you had a great time.

Thanks for that. I had asked someone on the clam beds if it was a washington and he said no. Instead, he showed me his cockle and said that it was a washington (pun intended... the cockles have ridges on the shell). At least I know now and will keep them from now on.

Looks like fun. How do you prepare the washingtons? I have always left them because I don't know what to do with them. The seem too big to just steam and eat and too small for just a neck job.

Easy way to clean clam necks is to dip them in hot water  for a short time.
