Gardens

Here's mine so far.  7 tomatoes, 6 peppers of varying heat, 3 squash, 1 eggplant, 1 cucumber and a patch of barley.

Great post MolBasser! @Abdiver, are feeding an army? Both gardens look good to me. I planted my first garden this year. I didn't have anywhere to grow in my backyard, so I wrote a letter to a neighbor that didn't go in/use his backyard. It took me 2.5 days of hard work to clean it, but the result was me being able to use it to garden in. I'll try to post some pics in a few. I have 8 tomatoes, 2 jalapenos peppers, 2 bell peppers, 1 Japanese egg plant, 1 green bean, and 4 types of lettuce (32 lettuce plants total). I'm using Earthbox containers, as this isn't my yard and its easier for me to vacate if necessary. Here is the link to the  containers I'm using, they are perfect for newbies!

LOL a small army .... no but really the wife is Italian so the tomatoes,basil, garlic,squash,ETC. either go into sauces, pasta dishes or pizzas. Salads and grilled veggies are a big thing in our house and my oldest son likes to snack on the sweet peas, carrots,Cherry tomatoes, ETC. when he is out running around in the backyard....I wonder why he's never hungry for dinner. Its actually amazing how much the grocery bill goes down during the summer when fresh garden veggies are a big part of dinner.

Ah come on Tony you should try it ,its super easy. I actually have mine hooked up to my electronic sprinkler timer so when the sprinkers kick off for the lawn it then kicks on the valve for the garden soaker hoses. Hell all I do after the garden is planted is a little weeding now an then and pick the veggies. No remembering or spending time out there watering it.

Yeah, it is ghetto, but you work with what you have.  That bike has been locked to that post since I moved here, almost six years.  I've just been to lazy to demand the property management cut it off.

This is my first year with a real garden.  I've done stuff in pots before, but this is the first time I rented a rototiller and churned up the earth.  I didn't do a very good job.  No soil analysis and winging it with the plants I put in the ground.  I will be more scientific next year and hopefully be out from under the organic yoke of my partner/neighbor.

Well, I should amend that....This is my first real garden outdoors with vegetables and such.
