So i have read the threads/discussions on what is the most needed and important things to have on your kayak when you go to the salt... now I would like to ask the more seasoned guys something.  What is something that wasn't necessarily dire to your survival but just made your overall salt fishing trips more pleasing. Something that you may have seen someone else do and said to yourself "man that is a good idea i will have to try that". or something that just makes things easier or convenient overall? Not necessarily something that you "really should have" to stay safe per-say.

1. lip grippers, either pricey boga or cheap plastic ones
2. a plan for when you need to urinate on the water
3. a bungie cord under the plano lid. Holds paperwork, maps, sabikis, and leader material

gear can add up fast so in general take Polepole's advice & keep things simple & clean on deck.

aww come on guys. this isnt what i meant. there has to be some little things here and there that make this easier or serve a purpose. im meaning things that a newbie like myself doesnt think about maybe attaching something with a bungee  here or a tool i might need that would make something a bit easier...

I dont know how to explain it really. but i guess if you all are saying that you go out there with the bare minimum then thats what it is... but there has to be some small creature comforts that you all use, no?

They key that EVERYONE stresses is get the basics needed to be safe & fish.  After a half-dozen outings, THEN focus of what will make YOU comfortable on the water.  I believe THAT is the tip to roll with.

That "1" thing differs for each person.

Maybe a descender if you plan on fishing over 50' or so. Some fish (chinas, gophers, and such) are just quitters and need a bit of help. My second rod usually has a descender set up already attached with a lever drag reel that allows me to lower them hands free.

A wide-mouth gatorade bottle to pee in.
A bow line (rope attached to bow w/brass clip on the end) to attach to kelp or in case of emergency.

Pay close attention to the essentials esp safety stuff.  Safest thing by far is don't go out alone....

You'll see what you need and don't need as you get experience.  the point is.....get experience AKA GO FISHING!!
