Hey Everyone,

My name is Billy. I grew up as a surfer in Southern CA. Moved up to the Sacramento area last year and needed an activity to fill in the deep dark void left in my soul to replace the thrill of riding waves. I got into bank fishing rivers and lakes on my own last year, pretty much schooling myself up on everything about fishing through random forums and Youtube. I now have a very basic understanding of the sport and am looking to expand my experience and success by purchasing a kayak. I look forward to getting started with you guys and will appreciate all of the advice anybody has to offer!!

Welcome aboard!   :smt001

Advice:  safety, fitness, kayaking awareness, proper gear - all of that should come before the fishing focus.  Once you achieve some proficiency in those areas the fishing will be more rewarding, and you should also enjoy more success.

Welcome!
Don't store those boards away just yet, and speaking from personal experience of suffering from the same dark void/move you have done several years ago, I can tell you that there are many great spots on the central and north coast that offer up better quality surf than SoCal and are only a couple of hours from you. If you want some quality time in the water whether it be surfing or ocean kayak fishing you can get it done and be back home in time for dinner.....shoot me a line (PM-personal message) on the forum here and we can talk more. Welcome. There are a lot of us in the general Sac area. Just look for local hook ups.

Thanks!
I am definitely looking forward to hitting the better surf up here. Unfortunately I left my boards down south and have not had the opportunity to transport them back up. Once I get them up here I will be hitting the coast for sure. Hopefully there are some good longboard spots because that is all I have right now.

I am willing to take you out sometime to try the yak fishing thing out. I'm sure others will loan you a boat too.
