Figured I'd hit up this spot again since I haven't fished it since last year in the evening time. Caught some nice large mouth bass in there last year. If anyone lives in the area and gets on here to see this post, I'll be out there and company is welcome. There is a loading/unloading ramp on N. Correira Rd off of 8 mile rd, west of stockton and also you can get there off of hwy12. Sorry for the late notice, if anyone wants to fish here on a weekend let me know

Caught about 10 bass today. Saw a lot of big fish in the shallows and had some pretty good fights. All bass were 14-18 inches long today which was nice. Past 2 times I've fished lately I only caught one fish a day that was only 12" long. Saw a lot of top water blow ups of frogs getting ate. I love fishing except my 4'6 rod hasn't been used as much as I would like because the reel I bought for it keeps getting birds nest. And it's a spinning reel! Very frustrating. I switched from 10 lb braided line to 10 lb mono line and still have problems

The gate was closed the way I normally go so I launched at a marina on bacon island rd. There are so many areas to fish in this location you can't beat it. They were biting on brush hogs, junebug & watermelon senkos. I tried other color senkos but had no success after 30+ cast with each color. Let me know if you'll be out there sometime or have any other spots to fish. I normally go to consumes river off of Thornton and have been trying different ponds west of galt and Lodi lately with little success

the correia access to white slough is probably permanently closed.  it's been gated off for about 2 years i think. i'll definitely hit you up on my next fishing trip.  weekdays good for you?

i usually fish for stripers, and when i paddle out, i troll a small shallow crank bait.  sometimes i get lucky and hook one, but don't target them (bass).  always good to learn how though.  the eternal newb.... haha

Nice report and photos!

Looks fishy. Wondering if there are any bluegill or green sunfish around there?

What kind of birds nest are you getting on the spinning reel? Is it line twist or is it winding the line wrong? I almost always have to peel off a ton of line behind the moving boat to get twist out from trolling crank baits all day.

You guys down around the Delta have some nice bass fishing holes.

I'm guessing if you are using a 4'6" rod the reel is probably pretty small as well?

If thats the case 10lb is too stiff...downsize and try to put 4lb or 6lb test and it should work just fine...though might be a little difficult bringing in some fish in cover.

There are lots bluegill out there in the shallows. All of my stuff is set up for bass. I haven't had any success with striper fishing. I fished out at white slough last year. I guess the farmers got pissed with all the bank fisherman leaving garbage and was getting into their crops.
Yes I'm using the smaller reel. I think I have 8lb braid on my daughters 4'6 pole and use to use it until she got old enough to use it. It does line twist. Think I'll try out smaller braid line if it doesn't work I'll save it for my daughters fishing pole.

Nice bass, thanks for the report and pics!

8 lb braid is small diameter and should be fine on a small spinning reel.  Might check if there is too much line on the reel, if so you'll have problems with tangles and gobs of line coming off when you cast with either braid or mono, especially if you have line twist issues as well.

I think I'm going to head out there in the morning. Since the gate is locked down by 8 mile rd, I'm going to go down correia off of 12 and carry my kayak down the levy. Bought some river bug soft baits and I'm interested if they'll work catching bass. Also got a new frog lure. Want to get out there early so the bite will be on

I only caught 1 bass yesterday morning that was only 12" long at white slough, but lost 6. Weaz there are some good fishing spots west of galt by the consumnes river. I want to give the area by wimpys another try. Pisco where is Georgina at?
