Thanks for the link Eric.  Someone borrowed my large cooler and proceeded to break both the hinges and latches off rendering it totally unuseable........I think he should buy me new one  :smt003

Gotta use block ice. Try and find an ice place in your area. Fremont has Glacier ice. You buy the blocks and they don't have bubbles in them. They last way longer than cubes.

it was the 150 qt one...So enough room to put all the "cold required" food and drinks for a family of 4. It weighed about 150lbs....but only had to buy one small bag of ice at shelter. The blocks were still 1/2 there when we got home.

I got it at a garage sale a few years ago for $20!

Yep thats the one I have too minus the small top hatch.I use the cooler both for camping and fishing and love it. It was like $40 when I bought it years ago at Wallyworld.

I throw in a couple frozen 2 liter bottles in it at the bottom which work great. The liter bottles stay colder longer than the block ice because it holds the cold water next to the ice and helps to prevent it from melting. I have had the bottles with a 10lb bag of ice last close to a week in 90 degree temps before having to thow more ice in it.

i didn't know they sold ice to the public there? i work right next to it. Next time i go camping i'm getting a couple of those block ice. They last a very long time. I remember going camping and it last for the whole week, it barely melted.

Tony - let me know if you're able to get the block ice. I'd like you to pick me up some if you can. LOL.

$$$ can be spend on stuff that we want, but do we really need? If you're just a casual outdoors enthusiast, it may be overkill to get something like the YETI coolers... that is unless you have the $$ of course. If you've got money burning in your pockets, then go for it.

I got a big cheap one with wheels from West Marine. I am usually just driving home which is 1 - 6 hours. I have a bad back so the wheels are great. The really big c bass don't fit so I have to break them down first.

Or you only keep smaller WSBs that'll fit your cooler and give the bigger ones to us (j/k)  :smt005

I'd buy one for that much...if it was shaped like a kayak and I could paddle it. AND keep my fish/beer cold inside the "hull"  :smt044

And if you put 2-3lb.of dry ice with the ice you won't have to buy any ice. Yes, the Yeti is dry ice compatible.!!
Yeti coolers are the BEST bar none.
Thanks Eric...good stuff

I pounded some Ritz into breadcrumbs on Harry's yeti cooler. Very durable! Sorry about that Harry.

I'd love one.  Moose, I was enviously checking yours out on Sunday.

Every cooler I've owned has cracks and/ or busted hinges within a few years.
