Took the wife and kids to the hatchery yesterday my youngest has never been and I haven't in years. Very cool place for you all to check out if your ever on the moccasin side of the of the lake or if your on your way to Yosemite via hwy 120. It's located about 2-3miles past the boat launch first road on the right then the first left. There is a parking area as soon as you drive thru the gates. There are a bunch of huge pins that seem to be a 1/4 mile long each one full of different size trout. There is a food machine that cost .25 for a handful. So much fun to feed these hungry little fish they act like piranas. Make sure you look at the show fish pin nothing but huge trophy bows.

I absolutely love this place although I have nothing to compare it to as I've never been to another hatchery.  Visit Moccasin at least once a year on our way home from the family camping trip.

While I love my job, every time I stop in it makes me question my career decision.

Yes, the show fish are something to behold.  :smt007  :smt007  :smt007

What's also fun is dropping food into the flume that is perpendicular and directly in front of the fish rearing pens.  It's only supposed to carry water but there are escapees and they'll jam out and grab food pretty darn quick and then dart back to cover.

Sweet I gotta checkout the Moccasin hatchery next time I'm in that area.
Video of my son when he was 3 @ the Nimbus hatchery:
