Man I'd love to dive with you, but I can't until August because I'm having Lasik done today. No more glasses! Now it won't take me 10 minutes to retie while floating....(hopefully)

WBTE,

Please don't take offense, but it sounds like you're just not ready for the salt off Timber Cove, (IMHO).  Spend the next couple weeks getting some time in your boat, flop over a few times (with PFD) and try getting back on the yak, shop around for that gear (then get it).

Do a ton of reading in our safety first section.  especially this one, http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=27534.0

Rockfish is open for the rest of the year around here.

One bad experience might dampen your whole outlook on the sport.

Please excuse my attitude, I'm just a safety first nut.
Plus one, times ten. Sounds like your in good hands but dress for immersion, I've had to pull a few guys out of the water and on the yak but it's an almost impossible situation, folks will wear wool, but when it's wet it will sink you and add a ton of weight, and the person gets cold FAST, no streanth in their hands, it's bouncing all around, lines getting tangled, and trying to put a post hypothermic person on a hobie, and then seeing them just flip right back in the water is freaking scary so plan ahead for just this.

Headed up Saturday morning with uncle, friend, and dad. Most likely launching out of Stillwater cove, I'll hit you guys up on CH 69. May stop at Timber Cove just hate paying per person to launch there.

Hoping this holds true:::

I'll see you at TC on Saturday AM.  I'm a newbie to kayak fishing, but very comfortable in the kayak on salt water.  Could use a few tips on how to rig up for rock fish and lings.  I went to Outdoor Pro Shop, where they set me up with rod, reel and tackle.  Time to go give it a spin!
Look forward to catching you all on the water.  And yes, I do have the safety gear - PDF, radio, etc!

I hoping to get in the area Friday afternoon and get a couple hours OTW and catch some dinner to BBQ right on the beach while watching the sunset.

Get up and get OTW by first light Saturday until 1 or 2 then hit the road back home to 107 degree heat.

Anyone ever chased salmon at TC?

My GF from Idaho is here, and we will be at Ocean Cove, she has never been in a yak, and the cove is really sheltered, unless there is a huge wind event. In that case we will be enjoying the coast from the beaches. Be safe this weekend guys, and remember, everything tastes better with bacon.

How do you have a pump set up?  Do you have a hole in a hatch for a tube to go down, or do you open the hatch & hold the pump against the bottom.  Do you have a make and model pump you suggest?
