Thinking of shad fishing the American tomorrow afternoon. I heard it gets pretty crazy out there during the holiday. Worth it or fish somewhere else?port maybe?

I won't be able to make it out there until next week but you have two options - (1) Fish the upper section early in the morning or late in the evening before or after the rafters (2) Fish below Harrington/Gristmill to the mouth whenever.

Just remember if you're fishing the upper section the barbless restriction. Let us know how it goes Oscar.

Sounds good to me, i'll be there. Never fished that far up on the American and on google maps it looks like there are a few places to launch from. which one should I go to?

Also bring your wheels as I am going to walk up the bike trail a little ways. If you have an anchor bring that too.
