hello everyone

name is greg, flyfisher for the past 20 years currently living in the sacramento area.  pay raise coming in july and am planning on getting a kayak to broaden my waters from the small-medium size streams/rivers and shore fishing i am accustomed to.

hoping to spend the next year getting used to kayaking and fishing in local lakes and working my way up to the delta and sf bay, with hopes of hitting the salt in a year or so (likely moving to the bay area for work in 2014).  looking forward to meeting some members and learning from everyone here.

- greg

Welcome aboard  :smt006 If you can't wait until you get your kayak and want to participate in one of the hookups and tourneys, you can post that you want to borrow a kayak for the day. Most of us here has a loaner yak.  :smt002 Looking forward to meeting you on the water.

Welcome, Greg.  Good luck with that sensibly paced entry into the sport - some of us have our doubts about how possible that is.   :smt005

That is funny as heck!!!! Welcome! Check the hook-up section and just throw it out there that you dan't have a yak yet. Most of the time somebody going will be able to help you out. IMHO, the ocean is safer than SF bay.

As Eric said. Good luck with the sensible plan. When you give up on that plan maybe we can start a yakaholics anonymous group ;)

I used to fly fished for 10 years then I found kayakfishing. I still swing some flies but not very often.  Decided I wanted to eat fish so my CNR days are over and the fish I target are table fare only.  Welcome to the madness. I bought my first kayak used from REI for $250.  I paddled it for 2 years.
