Wednesday 5/15 after work American for shad

Gonna put in near upper Sunrise and paddle up stream looking for shad.  I'll be fly fishing for them.  Hopefully find a few holes to cast into.  They are in there.

I'll be at the Sunrise area by 4:15 and will be parking at the old gravel rode we use to be able to drive down to the water.

Hey Scott, I can't join you Wednesday, but I'm gonna try to come up real soon. That old gravel road you mention, is it okay to park on the shoulder there? I was tempted to park on the side of the road last year, but didn't see anybody else parked there. I ended up parking at the big lot and had to portage my yak up that stretch of the river.

if you want to be in the bigger numbers fish around s. watt they are in there thick right now. they up @ sunrise but not in huge numbers. you will have much better success in the area i mentioned earlier

We park on both sides of the road at the entry of the old gravel road.    You can park on the shoulder next to the low fence and there is also that little cut out for parking on the other side of the road.

I'll meet you there, I'll probably park in the upper lot next to red bridge and walk up the bike trail with the wheeleez then float back down at the end of the evening.

We might as well park together. Safer in numbers. I'll be driving a green Toyota Yaris.

Sounds good here is the route I plan on walking up, its about a mile from parking lot to launch. It puts you in right at the old dirt road launch.

Do you guys mind a tag along? I work close by and can escape a little early from work to meet up . Do I need an anchor ? I have never fished the American out of a kayak just from shore.

Nope not at all! Do you have wheels?

As far as the anchor with the water levels as low as they are, the water is moving slow so you could do short little drifts and paddle back up if you want. If you are going to do that you could try a bobber float method.

Awesome ,going to get some wheels during lunchtime. Have all the tackle just need to know the where and when . I have a grey Ford f150 with racks on the back .just need to know where to park and meet up .thanks!

-Sunrise to South Bridge Street (east side of the street)
-Drive down to the end of the street until you come to the Parks pay booth
-Once you pass the park pay booth and come to the Y stay to the right
-The road will the curve to the left and there will be a gravel parking lot.

Thanks for the visuals Abdiver! I'm going to try to meet you guys up, if I can't be there by 4:15, I will probably just stay around the Paradise Beach area, will let you guys know how I do. Fish ON!
