Hey NCKA was wondering if anyone is available down in San Deigo, for some Yellowfin Tuna fishing out of La Jolla. I know I can get a guide in La Jolla to go out and slay some YF but that'd run me like 150$ for the day... which if it comes to down to it I will do just to catch some fish. However I would much rather meet someone down there and head out otw, slay, and i'll buy the beers after. saving me alot of money on an already expensive trip. I have a Jackson Coosa that im planning on taking out. will this suffice on the ocean? i believe it would.. but anyways.. hoping to meet up with someone who knows the area and where the fish are! Later!  :fish

Try posting this on Bigwatersedge.com. You can fish it ith out a guide and have a lot of fun, but if you want that trophy Yellow Tail or WSB a guide is the only option. I suggest either Kevin (sea samurai) or the darkhorse Josh Pruitt.

Driving from South Lake Tahoe, that's why I thought I'd bring my yak & do some slayyin! La Jolla kayak adventures will outfit me in everything I need from pole to yak for 175$ a day... I'd much rather bring my own yak with my fishfinder n rigging on it the way I like and just try to rent a salt rod n reel... Maybe they'd give me a discount being that I have my own yak? But still would rather meet a new fishin buddy that'd like to show me the area in return for some beers and I'd be more than welcome to show this person some awesome Tahoe fishing if they ever journeyed up this way..

Most likely, you'll see the fleet, a bunch of Hobie Pro Anglers, out there. They all launch from where "Avenida De La Playa" dead ends into the beach. In the morning they drive their trucks right to the water. Watch out though, the SoCal surf launches are gnarly, I saw the shore-break get to about 1.5 feet! ;) Good luck dude, report back.

lakers can be caught all year! NCKA Tahoe fish n chill sounds like an event that needs to be planned! back to the La Jolla sitch.. I am just going to get a guide, i wont have to bring my yak and i think it'll be the best way to go for me... as of right now im booked with La Jolla Kayak Adventures with Jim Sammons. Says nothin is being caught right now, and the fishing has been slow... anyone got anything else on how the fishing has been? i've checked out Sea Samurai looks like he catches big fish as well. anyone have a preference between the two guides? seems like i cant go wrong with whomever i choose..

You can always fish San Diego bay for multi types of bass, corvina, bonefish,  halibut and other fish.
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

If you have room for your yak bring it. Both SD and Mission bay are really fun. Spotted bay bass are really fun to catch on light gear. 3" or 4"Swim baits on 1/2 oz heads will get you all kinds of fish down there. If you launch from the ramp on shelter island and paddle towards the mouth of the bay you will see some cool stuff. Nuclear subs in dry dock on your right and f18's taking off on your left its a cool place to paddle for sure.

For pro guides I like Josh Pruitt. Yellowfin tuna don't usually come in kayak range so you would be targeting yellowtail, white sea bass and halibut as far as big game. I would not show up at the launch and tag along. The SCAL guys aren't real friendly and the hard core anglers launch at 2-3 AM. Bring some larger sabikis because the bait of choice are green back macs. Don't leave your stuff on the beach unattended, theft is rampant. There are a few SCAL guys on NCKA, Deepdvr, The Kidd, killemandgrillem. I have fished with 2 of them and they are great guys. PM them and they may be able to hook up with you.

Start posting/interacting with some guys on these boards...most people are pretty cool and willing to take someone out who is visiting.

Also bring some heavy outfits...when I would fish down there 40lb was the lightest I would go...I also echo the idea of checking out SD Bay...great place to fish and depending on where you fish the scenery is good too....drop shotting gulp shrimp (my go to bait) gets you the bass and halibut on light line was a blast....also on the way back up swing by Newport Beach Harbor to experience the same
