Wife kicked me out of bed this morning around 4:30am and said to go get some pink meat. Left the house around 5:30am heading to HMB. Made a quick stop for some fuel in  Hayward and off to the final destination. Arrived at the ramp around 7:00am to find that the line to the launch ramp wasn't that bad. Splash the whaler at 7:30am and slowly make my way out of the harbor in pea soup fog and set course to 20/40. I slowly make my way out to the numbers and finally the fog lifted when I was about 4 miles to the numbers. It was amazing to see tons of sports boats, party boats and stick boats out there.

Dropped the line in around 8:45am 2 miles short of 20/40 and slowly tacking south. Had a few drive by that did not stick and finally boated the first fish at 9:45am @ 19/41. At around 10:00am I hooked up on a big fish that peel line like crazy. This fish almost spooled me and I finally got him close to the boat after about 15 minute battle, and as I was reaching for the net, the beast shooked the hook and bolted. It's tough fishing solo especially when you hook on one of those beast. Trolled south a little bit and finally got the devil fish into the net around  10:45am @ 19/42.

Beautiful weather out there and as I was running towards the barn, the south wind is slowly picking up. Lots of whales and metered tons of baitball from 5' down to 200'. Both fish came on the Blue Kajiki setup and 55' OTW. Just finished cleaning the boat, gear and fish now it's time to enjoy some fry salmon and some sinigang soup (Filipino sour soup) with the wife. Here are some pics.

WTG, by the way, I am only a 20 minute drive from Pillar pOint, can split  or hell meet you at the top of 92 before you decend into HMB. Would love to og out for some more pink and would rather give my funds to an NCKAer to help defray costs then a party barge where I am one of many.

I have to ask being from back east orginally, and have a soft spot for Whalers, what year and model is yours?  I am curious to see if it is an orginal from Mass boat or a Florida boat.

Squidder, my 17' Montauk was build in 1985 and I purchased it from the original owner. I repowered it with a 2007 90 Evinrude Ficht (fuel injection) and makes a big difference on fuel consumption compared to the original 90 Johnson that was on there.
