This report is minutes old. Another diver has lost his life on the Sonoma coast at Fisk Mill Cove. An aggressive effort was made to save him but failed. RIP

What a shame. All brothers and sisters be safe and lookout for one another. Ab diving is both a challenge and a joy, but not a sport without risks to be considered.

Very Very Sad  day again.  Was up at Fisk last Sun with a small group and sadly watched the attempted resuscitation of the diver that died.  Conditions were challenging and we watched quite a few struggle, and get rolled with the swell and wind.  Improved equipment technology does not compensate for training and experience.  Respect your trigger points ( go/no go).  If any doubt, do not go.  There will be another day.
RIP Brother Diver.

That is sad and very disturbing at the same time. What is up with this fourth?? Fatality in the last few weeks?? For a newb who wants to give diving a try.... Having second thoughts. I understand there is risk in all we do, but I would really considering diving with a few guys around when I go for my first dive for sure.

Pretty much every season I have a few to several No-Go days. I always prepare myself to accept that.

We check the wind/swell/tide reports, make the pilgrimage to the edge of the sea and assess.

It has looked OK, we suited-up and prepare to get wet, then walk away as conditions have quickly deteriorated. It's difficult, but necessary.

I've been diving there for almost 45 years and have seen everything from heart attacks to slip and falls that have killed divers. It's tragic and seems avoidable most of the time, but sometimes we get in over our heads and the ocean is quick to claim it's victims. It can happen in a moment, know your abilities. Just a tip...

How does a diver know his abilities without ever testing his abilities?
(BTW, not saying go out and try and cheat death each time . . . my ultimate goal is always to make it home.)

RIP diver
