I need a down day, and a co worker has no kayak, no gear to speak of and wants to go fishing.  So I am thinking of hitting the pier in Pacifica.  A little Crab and Chill and burn up some comp time I have at work that will expire if I don't use it.  I am hoping it won't be to bad on a Thursday.  Any tips?  Does anyone ever surf fish off the beach there?  I noticed the rocks at the end of the beach and was wondering if there were some rock fish in that shallow or not?  ANyone ever try a little pocket fishing at the end?

You can land stripers and perch from pacifica beach sometimes. I have never seen rock fish, I'm sure they're there though.

The main event will most likely be the crab though, I would focus on that.

I have tried fishing there a couple times while my snare is soaking, but only caught some jack smelt.  Around this time of the year, you should see a lot of surf fishermen out there fishing for stripers.

I usually take my friends there once a year and I usually end the trip with lunch at Gorilla BBQ.  They're already bugging me about it this year, but not for the crabbing, but the bbq!  If you haven't been there, its a must!  In my opinion, it has to be one of the best bbq spots in the bay area.

Good luck and have fun.

Thought about gorrila, and cruised by there.  Line had to be a block long.  Went to the Peruvian/Mexican Place, had beef hearts, tostada ceviche, and calamari.  Good dinner!

Yea, that line gets pretty long sometimes.  Usually on a weekend, the wait is about 40 min, but well worth it.

But if you're going on a weekday, the line shouldn't be bad at all...hopefully.   :smt003
