I did try and search for 'net' before posting this...crazy search results.

Anyone have a good recommendation for a net to land salmon and lings? My little lake trout net isn't going to cut it. The nets I'm seeing at Walmart and Big Five are pretty weak...not finding much better at the other sports shops in Chico...anyone have a brand/model they can recommend?

I'm Googling around looking for the appropriate recommendation, but I keep coming up with stuff that's a little blown out...

http://frabill.com/landing-nets/powercatch-nets.html

Up here in Eureka you can score a big salmon net in any of several sporting goods stores for around $40 to $70.

Some find a big net to be a hindrance due to wind drag, and some say it gets in the way of other gear or causes tangles and such, but I can't stress enough how I may not have landed my biggest yak fish over the years without the big nets I've carried.  Go big, or risk telling the story later of the big one that got away while you thought to yourself, "WHY didn't I get the BIG net?!"

Personally, I think the 26X30" hoop with 48" handle is a decent size salmon net particularly for spring salmon. Any hali or salmon too big for that net is a gaffer or harpoon. The downside of giant nets as mentioned is wind drag and tangling. They are also harder to move quickly. I have not had a problem with the hoop being too small and I have landed 25#ers with it. What I have had problems with is the handle being too short with 6' leaders. I added an extension to my net so it can extend to 6'.

Sorry Adam I disagree. I started last salmon season with the promar folding net and the handle bent landing a large salmon. Definitely can say I wouldn't recommend it for salmon.

Anybody have an extra net that they want to sell?  I'm looking for something around 26" X 30" hoop size.

Martin I saw on Facebook that Greg Mouton/Kayak Greg aka cajun on here has big nets for sale at his shop up there...maybe send him a PM and see if he can bring one down for you?

Isn't there a minimum size net opening required when fishing on the ocean per fishing regulations?
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!
