Hit the lake at the launch by the dam at 8am...30 minutes later I had a nice rainbow and a king salmon on the stringer. Fished a tazmanian devil lure on the surface (scored the rainbow) on one side and the same lure different color on the other side 15' down on the downrigger (scored the salmon about 10 minutes later)

Salmon got air born twice and put up a killer fight. lots of fun. 19" and just shy of 3 pounds...I thought for sure it would be 4-5 pounds, but nope - 2.87lbs.

I spent the next hour trolling the same location and turned up nothing then went all the way to the north shore hugging the east side all the way up. Nothing more today, but had a blast. Pretty windy out on Almanor today.

Nice chromer there Steve!  Glad you scored.  The east shore can produce some great trout and salmon this time of year.  Look for the circling birds to find the blood midge hatches and you're in business  :smt004.  Those Chinook are HARD fighters no doubt!  Second only to the smallmouth IMO.

Nice fish Murf,

That salmon looks like it didn't miss many meals at Almanor. Very chunky.
