Help! Go Pro issue

My go pro which I have only used a couple times is acting up. I can tour it on and when I hit record it sometimes will record, and sometimes not. Also, if it does work or not, it won't turn back off. Do I need to upgrade it with new program. Im on vacation and only have my iPad. I don't think I can upgrade on it. I'm going to dive and it it does not start record  I will be underwater and not obviously able to open and pull battery to reset. WHAT DO I DO? Going diving, back later to hopefully find a good cure. Thanks

About half my videos show me in the first frame,mostly because I want to see if the red light is on and blinking.
I also listen for the beep and for the 6 or so beeps it makes as it goes off.Try just turning it on and off until your sure it is on/off.Have you got/read the instructions? You shouldn't need an upgrade.Good luck,  Just a tip....

I had one that not matter what we did it would stop recording
Go pro gave me a new camera
Does not help when you are on vacation  , I bought one in between time so now I have 2
Spent a lot of time trying all sorts of things , I guess I got a lemon

Rob- Shoot Gopro a call and see if they can walk you through it. Let them know you are on vacation and what the camera keeps doing.

Rob, I don't know what model you have but the problems could be the firmware or the sd card. If you have a laptop you can try to download & reload the latest firmware update into your camera. You can try re-formatting/erasing your sd card in camera. Or you can try buying a different sd card. So far I've had problems with both the sandisk & samsung cards. Gonna try transcend next as people have had good luck with that brand. I've also noticed the problems tend to happen more right before the battery is going to die so make sure your battery is fully & freshly charged. I charge mine right up until I leave the house.

Just got back in to the room. It would lock up a couple of times so I took battery out and reinstalled and it worked fine. Took a video of the coast and turned off camera, two minutes later tried to turn on and it won't start at all. Nothing will work now. Only used maybe ten minutes max on fresh battery. I really don't think it is the sd since it won't even turn on now. Thanks for the # Eric. I will call them tomorrow. This sucks since I forgot the charger for my other Pentax too. That bat will die soon.

I have the same issue too.  Taking the battery out is an issue for functionality.  Let us know what u find out.

Rob if it is ultimately a bad camera ask GoPro while you're on the phone with them if they will do an RMA on it with a local (Hawaii) shop that sells them and swap it out for a new one. I would stress to them that you are on vacation and would like to use it while your there. See what they say, keep us posted.

I am of the belief that go pro cameras are not very user friendly...what other consumer product tells you to update your firmware right out of the box...tells you the product may not function based on the SD card manufacturer...even the remote for GP2 works sporadically, but only if you update all the camera parts separately...who really wants a camera you have to much work on???

Rob, I also had issues, bugs or whatever frustrating thing you want to call it . Was going to return it.    Went to GoPro web site, plugged in cable, and updated firmware and viola worked like new  . That was last year and it continues to work great.  Good Luck.

I would never buy one of these on my own or any other version of it. I've had it since Dec and used it for a couple minutes. I won this at the freshkats tourney series. I thought it would be great to use once I got it and started using it. Now I just want to throw it in the trash.

I don't have another computer to upgrade with here, so I guess I'm SOL if GP won't try to replace while I'm here in Hawaii.

Check your hotel to see if they make a computer available for their guests.
