I am having a tough time replacing the little plastic piece that broke on my paddle holder cord thing-a-ma-jig. Anyone have tips on how to get the broken part off the of bungee??
And how do I pry-off the screw/punch thing?

Here's some pics:

To get the bungee off the clip. Take a small screw driver and pry apart at the gap. It will come apart. The other option is if the bungee is stretched out a little, just cut it off close to the clip. The part on the kayak. If it is riveted in all you need to do is drill out the center and it will fall off inside the kayak. Get a new rivet and install. I'm sure Dan will help you put.
      Good luck, Rob

I just looked again. It is a rivet, so just drill out the center and get a rivet from Dan.

You will also need that bungee end. I have a dozen, but won't be around for about two weeks. Hawaii bound in the morning.

Make sure you use the right size drill bit so the hole you end up with fits the new rivet. You can ask what size the replacement is to be sure.

You just drill the center out and the ring on top comes off. Then the inside part falls in the boat.

Ok, another question - the rivet requires a special tool to attach the new rivet, right? I know Dan has one at the shop, but I am thinking it might be easier to get the tool than to load up the kayak and take it over to the shop....

Yes, get the pop rivet tool. Coolest tool you can buy for $25. Some have pivoting heads might be helpful. :smt006 -Amos

This should do the trick $4.99

Make sure you still get the plastic rivets from Headwater or wherever. The ones that come with the rivet gun are mostly meant for metal applications. They have a different spread.
