Well seeing all the Kokanee reports on here, and every body saying how good the taste, I figured why not switch it up and specifically target them I've never caught one in my life so I figured how hard can it be. Well $40 dollars worth of hoochies, bugs and dodgers later I load up the truck and head to bass lake. Well as it turns out after peddling 6 miles and trying every color and combination possible I say screw it, I'm just gonna target rainbows instead, there easy so I rig up flashers and put on a red wedding ring and start to head back towards we're I launched. Well not even 2 minutes later the pole starts twitching so instant to real it in and wow this fish is a acrobat, this is pretty cool well I get it up to the yak and what do you know it's a Kokanee. Well over the next hour or so I hook up with 5 kokes "only landed three"  and one rainbow, so all in all it turned out to be a great day after all and  I think I'm hooked on these Kokanee, man there so much fun to catch.

Nice catch Joe,
Looks like you had a great day ... Any trouble with the lake lice showing up?

Nope in fact I only seen three other boats on the lake and they were bass fishing. I wish I would have got a pic of the fish on the hog trough but I didn't know that a 14" and 13" we're big for koke.

Great catch. Congrats on your first kokes.

They sure look like they would be tasty in a smoker.

Nice! Were you fishing over the weekend or on Monday? I was there on Saturday and it was slow. I only got one rainbow on a wedding ring, and some trollers I talked to in the parking lot said they only got one rainbow too.

Although I experienced slow fishing on Saturday, it was a beautiful day to be at Bass Lake, and one highlight was seeing this bald eagle on its nest.

I went on Monday, and I ended up finding the fish north of the sheriffs tower, those bald eagles were a sight to see, there was at least three, and I think they were the ones catching all the fish.

I didn't get that far north. Were you using leadcore or weights?

One pole was lead core with three colors of line out and the other one was on a down rigger 15 feet down small seps flashers and a pink wedding ring on one and a red wedding ring on the other both with shoepeg corn, I'm gonna try adding sent to the corn next time.

FYI empty power bait bottles are perfect for scented corn
