Hooked up with fuzz, my young buddy Jesse and the husband (Mike) of one of my Team in Training buddies...Mike's wife is a cancer fighter and a great person and she reached out to me awhile ago to see if I could take Mike out and show him around a little since he was trying to get into diving/spearing.

Mike paddled out in my T15, Jesse in the scupper pro I got for him from Novofish, fuzz in his trusty scupper, and me in my new all black stealth Cuda.  :smt003

Before we left the cove, fuzz said lets stop and look and see if anybody is home in this hole....he jumps in,  comes back up and says there is a nice cabbbie waiting for Mike.   :smt003

Took Mike a few tries to get down to the cab at 27 feet, but once he did he planted a secure shot...right in it's tail.   :smt005 :smt044

All good, popped his cab cherry and we were off to a great start to the day.  :smt004

Next spot, Jesse shoots a half limit of blues, blacks and kelpies and is looking good and comfortable cruising down to 20-30 feet.

Fuzz explores around and comes back with 2 nice monkeys that he throws inside my yak to christen it...nothing says maiden voyage like 2 thrashing eels covering the inside of your new yak with slime.

 :smt005 :smt044 :smt044 :smt044

Then we make a move and paddle a few miles...lot lumpier and windier offshore than forecast but we charged out anyway.

At the spot there is a nice cab down at about 35 feet that I spend a lot of time trying to get Jesse to shoot but he can't quite get all the way down.  :smt009 Bummed cuz I know he is so close, but then he starts getting seasick and so I realize I will have to shoot it myself.   :smt003

Nice 21 incher   :smt001

Jesse and Mike paddle back in cuz they are both sick from the lumpy seas, and even fuzz is green and feeling bad...

Fuzz and I spend some time picking off blues and he gets two nice Lings before we head back into the cove for him to clean his fish in sheltered waters.  Right before we leave Nelson Kwok shows up...great to see you buddy and hope you had a great time out there!

Back in the cove I dive while fuzz cleans fish. Great structure and best viz of the whole day. Find a Ling tucked away in a crack and plant my shaft right in his head. Nice meaty 27.5 incher.

Capo shows up and starts diving around, but fuzz is done with his fish so we start heading in. Before we get to the beach fuzz says lets check one more hole to see if I can get my 2nd Ling. Yep, he finds one and I go down 40 feet and bring up a nice 28.5 incher from the back of a deep dark hole.   :smt004

Back at the beach chill with the fellas and Capo and GregJ and Northshorediver for a bit before heading home.

Mike had a great time and his wife said he was grinning ear to ear for the rest of the day. So cool to take someone diving off a kayak for their first time and having them come home with a great fish!!

Great company, awesome time, and super stoked on my new Cuda and how it performed.

Looking forward to the next time already!!

 :smt006

Sincerely,

Jim

Great looking boat, Jim.  Way to own it out there.  You've got it down to a science and are one of the most prolific diver/spearfisherman/videographer/great friends out there.  Keep it up, Bro.   :smt001

Quote from Big Jim "Mike had a great time and his wife said he was grinning ear to ear for the rest of the day.
