Looking to make another run to New Melones, to see if I can do better than my last trip.  Looking to arrive around 5:00 AM and be on the water by 6:00 AM.  Have to be off the water by 2 PM so I can be back in San Mateo to pickup my daughter at 5:30 PM.

I don't have a downrigger.  Last time I just used a weighted keel sinker.

Last week in my PB all the kokes came off the downrigger at 35'. Nothing hit my "topline" kayak set up with the inline sliding weights. If you have a good diver might be the time to try it out. Seems they are getting deeper and lord knows the bu8lletin board boat traffic isn't going to help anything. Launch was a madhouse last Saturday.
And you could hear me screaming a mile away as I was headed out for the door....

Hopefully I'll avoid a lot of boat traffic by going tomorrow instead of on Saturday.  When I went out this past Saturday I got hit pretty well using a keel type sinker, just didn't convert many of them into fish.

I'm probably in the background in a few of those photos and our bag for the day was almost identical except i traded one koke for a trout. We got a couple bass but the devil fish crappie were a no show up in that area.
