Fishing was slow for bass and crappie on the holiday weekend.  Nearly everyone on the lake was throwing mini-jigs, but I couldn't get anything with them except a couple of undersized bass.  Crawdad trapping is excellent there, however.  The only legal bass I got was on a live crawdad.  On the last day, I had rigged my wife with the simplest possible gear, a worm on a bobber.  She started catching fish, so I switched to that setup.  We got a stringer of crappie and bluegill, plus a 15 inch squawfish.  The bite was in the middle of the lake on a narrow section by the railroad bridge for us.  It was work to hold position, because the current is almost like a river there.
