Sunday my Pa=Larry (many of you have met him over the last couple months) joined Patrick and I for his day of kayak fishing. Dad has recently moved back to the area. He is no stranger to fishing and is credited for giving us the fishing/hunting bug. In the mid 1970's through about 1985 our family had a trailer at Lake Berryessa where we spent many a morning in our little aluminum boat trolling for trout.

In the late 90's Dad, Patrick, and I fished the Kenai Peninsula including rivers and ocean fishing out of Homer. He won the salmon derby for a $2200 bonus with his 54 pound king out of a drift boat on the Kenai. One of the experiences he (we all) will never forget was our surf launch at Deep Creek with a couple of knucklehead skippers. Dad was out fished by Patrick for the largest halibut but not by much. Alaska was Amazing!

Dad has joined us in Baja as well catching Sailfish and Mahi Mahi from a panga...pictures when I can find them...

Dad has been crabbing with us on the big boat since the start of this season and wanted to get out on the kayak since his return and Sunday he got his chance on Lake Mendo. Patrick was on the water as well so that made  three generations of us ....the fish did not have a chance. He had his pick of kayaks and went with the Revo sans pedals. He trolled all over hoping for a striper but then settled in for some smallies and was not disappointed. Later he switched to crappie jigs ....hooked a few but could not land the feisty buggers. My father is a quick learner and mastered the art of hovering over a spot even with the stiff afternoon wind...Good Job Pa

If you meet my Pa up at GS7, Albion, elsewhere  bring a chair and be prepared for a few Great stories ...they will be dooozies.

Alaska....

Note the mark on Patrick's Hali...bite mark of some kind ...we could never figure out from what. Also check out the "powder burns" on the two big hali's heads.....nothing better than catching fish and then finishing them off with a good shot gun slug to the head....fishing and shooting combined...it doesn't get any better than that!!

LOL I thought maybe Patrick had a baby! (well, not him, but the significant other) I'd love to sit down & hear stories about Berryessa back in the day. I have a lot of good memories from my family's trailer at Spanish Flat.
Thanks for the multi-generational report Allen!

It's been great having Grandpa back on the water, just like old times.  I have also been lucky enough to work alongside him on some projects with my Uncle this year.  Three generations on the jobsite is almost as fun  as on the water, his stories can put a serious hurt in your side.  Not to mention he always has an extra sandwich to share!
