Bodega Bay Pier fishing/crabbing

The wife and I are heading to Bodega Bay tomorrow to see the Tall Ship Tours and Sails. We are heading to our hotel in a few hours and I'm bring some fishing gear and my crab pods.

Can anyone give me some tips on pier fishing what to do or use and also what about the crabbing. Has it slowed down? What's good for bait on the pier and etc. Also what about other spots near Bodega Bay for surf fishing or crabbing? This will be non kayak related.
