Hey guys, I'm heading to Orlando, FL at the end of the month for a family trip to the Magical Kingdom.  However, my "Magical Kingdom" is being on the water fishing.  Since this is my first time going to Florida, I would like to get some Florida fishing in.  My brother in-law and I are hoping to sneak away for day of fishing while down there.  Does anybody have any suggestions?

Kissimmee chain of lakes for Fresh water Large mouth bass. Not to far from Orlando.
Probably the best bass fishing on the east coast. All of my saltwater fishing has been in the keys, a little far from orlando. I can tell you this now is a good time to fish Florida. I would suggest a guide for both types of fishing while you are there. Florida was a huge supply of guides should not be to hard to find one. I use World Wide sportsmen out of Islamorada. Maybe they could help. Good luck

you could drive 45 min to Coco beach, over at  Cape Canaveral port they have a  few party boat which cost around $ 70  from8-5  daily . you go out  about 25 mile out, they offer  a free lunch and beers on tap free. Its not a bad deal. i was out there a few months back, we where targeting groupers meanly . I'd fish 5 days straight on one of them party boats . good luck. :smt006

Thanks guys I appreciate the intel.  I know from my Cabo fishing days, that good information is important if you don't want to waste your time and catch fish.

You will have no shortage of fresh water options the whole state is one big swamp, lakes in every backyard and they seemingly all hold fish.  My cousin lives in Windermere and I always caught something interesting when visiting, without too much effort, right in his backyard (I think its Lake Butler, but it was also connected to a bunch of other lakes that I accessed from his jetski.

I wouldn't even bother packing gear (OK maybe a pack rod and one spinnerbait).  There is a Bass Pro Shops off of International Dr. near the outlets where you can score killer deals, sales tax only 6%.

Sorry, no info on any commercial guides.

You can fish Mosquito Lagoon for sea trout and redfish.  Plus you'll get to see manatee's.  Just grab a kayak and fish away.

And remember, every little piece of water in Orlando has gators.
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

There are some guides on the St. Johns River, there is also some fishing guides over on the Coast if you take the highway out of Kissamee towards Space Coast.  You may have to go in an AIr boat.

We are planning on staying for the whole week but will probably only be able to fish one day.

I'm going to be there at the end of the month also...     Bringing my kayak, chasing fish.   Maybe we can hook up and fish together. :smt006

   Bringing my kayak :smt006

Moving or transporting for the trip?  If you are shipping it, do you mind if I ask what that costs?  My guided trip when I went to FL in November was about $160 I think.  I'd prefer to just use my kayak and go for it now that I have it figured out.

Man, I wish I could take my kayak, but this is going to be more of a family trip.  I hoping a can sneak away for one day of guided fishing.  I mean how often do I get to go to Florida.

I'll be driving down from the north, doing sales calls.    Was hoping to arrive at a tournament near Tampa, but don't think I'll make it in time.
Shipping would cost more than 160  each way.  You'd be better off renting,  or even buying a used Craigs list boat.

Having grown up in FL... The previous comments are correct almost every body of water has something that bites....that includes gators...but that being said central and North FL have some of the best fishing in the country...if you want salt go east and fish the intercoastal waterway...big redfish and trout...otherwise forget the drive and find a nearby lake for bass...spend a few bucks on a good setup and just find a pier, a shoreline or even a guide...if I were going, I would hit the intercoastal.... Good luck
