Not freediving related but a really good read. Heart breaking and heart warming story.

Man...that is super scary...

SCUBA is serious stuff...from this write up it sounds like those instructors really f-ed up and were total jerks from the get go.  :smt009

Wishing her a speedy recovery...

Sincerely,

Jim

I spoke with Scott on Tuesday.  She's messed up good, her BP is constantly over 180 and she's suffering from memory loss which she had no history of before the incident.  SSI is not helping them at all and they still can't get any information from the shop about insurance.  SSI has suspended the shops certs pending the outcome so for now they are teaching under PADI.

Odd that he didn't out the instructors and the shop.  This was All about scuba in Fairfield, right?

How rough is that that he had to punch the instructor twice in the face to beg him off?  Sounds like a wild scene for sure.

I cried as I read this story.  My dive buddy, Sarah Bunag, died at Monastery Beach, Carmel, several years ago.  Her new first time dive "buddy" entered the water before her and came back several minutes later to find her lying face down in the surf.    She was put in an induced coma, but the swelling in her brain was too severe and she never recovered.  Those idiot instructors and the dive shop need to be published and banned from instructing anymore.

A couple friends of mine were taking classes either there or at LP some years back. The same kind of thing happened to a woman diver back then but I think it was in deeper water.
