A lot of ads I see sell the sure thing. I am new to kayak fishing and my previous fishing experience is so far removed I consider myself a noob. Even though I have some tackle around from the early 80's and before, I feel I need to start from scratch. I just don't have the experience or knowledge to separate out fact from hype. I would like to buy one of everything to cover my bases, but that just isn't possible. I am planning on attending BSS III and am thinking about what tackle I will need. I came across a link to a "fish with Gary" tackle site for Kokanee, with setups for different depths and different colors. At 7 or 8 bucks a pop for a variety of colors and depths, and spares for just in case, it can get expensive in a hurry. I am looking for good info to help me build my tackle and gear arsenal. As expensive as it can be, I can't afford to waste money, and nor do I want to paddle around all day catching nothing because I went cheap. I figure everyone has their favorites and I am not looking to start a tackle war. I live in Vacaville and plan to mostly stick close to home. I work in American Canyon and might be able to get in the water for a few hours after work. That gives me Lake Berryessa, some sloughs near Dixon and Suisun and the Napa River near American Canyon. I hope to build a war chest that will be suited to take on all comers I might hope to encounter in these waters. How might I best go about this without breaking the bank?

Fish are extremely intelligent, and by the end of each season, they have learned to recognize the newest lures and baits and have already begun to pass the information to their offspring. They quit falling for those old lures in your tackle box many years ago, and just laugh when they see them nowadays.

The only way you can catch this year's fish is to use next year's tackle before anyone else does. Otherwise, you're just wasting your time.

I hope this helps!

When I clicked the link, all the photos had been deleted.  Is it just me, or are they really gone?
