I recently thawed an Ab from this past season to prepare for dinner and found the foot was green shaded-I haven't seen that before...after shucking and cleaning, we found that some of the foot was the green shade, some was not. Is that color from gonad absorption after death, natural or an anomoly? We are talking a deep 8.75" specimen from the Ft. Bragg 'hood....

Definitely from the gonad, this happens to all my abs when they're frozen in the shell.

Hmm, interesting, I wonder what specifically in the process causes it - this is the first time I have seen that in one of my frozen Abs.

You know that big ball of digesting algae that DFG won't let you clean off of your abs? It's just like putting all your different colored rubber worms together for 5 months.

I have one from last season with that same green color throughout the boot! I figured it was just a bit of algae that dug into the ab, but let me know how it goes. If I don't see a post in the next month or two I might toss it. ha ha
