The kids and I will be diggin for gold on Saturday. We will be at Parks Bar. HWY 20 where it crosses the Yuba River outside Marrysville. Heading North, as soon as you cross the river, there is a turnoff to the west. Take that and head down to the river. Nordic Enterprises has a quarry there, and we are not allowed past the gate. (I am, but for the group we will stay on public land)
There is a lot of gold here. Every pan will have a minimum of five colors in it. Lots of fine gold, and the most black sand I have ever seen in a river. There is gravel/sand to process, crevices to scrape out, and lots of places to dig with shallow bedrock. Rattlesnakes are a very REAL expectation, so be advised. There is lots of room, and limited parking. Carpooling is encouraged.
Later that evening, I am performing in Yuba City for a comedy show, and I am really excited. All five of us, are national touring headliners, so it is a stacked deck if you choose to make a whole day of it. I have extra equipment I can loan (gold pans). Bring buckets, sluice if you have one, pans, and digging tools. rubber boots, or waders too. I will take the time to show everyone and anyone how to use their pans/sluices/ metal detectors. Short notice, but my schedule lately is all short notice. Hope to see ya there.

I just got two new Le Trap pans for me and the wife. We'll be in Vegas for the whiskey event. Please let me know next time you head out again. Mike

The wife and I are going to take it up this year.
We have pans, buckets, and digging tools. It'd be good to have a veteran check out our panning technique. If we can get out of the Bay Area this weekend we'll meet you up there. What time are you planning on heading out to the river?
Tied for last place 2010 A.R.W. halibut tournament

From Placerville i would take 49 north to 20 west until you get to the river , cant miss the river. a few miles west of Smartsville (Smartville).

Thanks!  I found it on a map, but unsure which road off 20.  My guess is that it's Old Bonanza Ranch Rd.?

To make it easy, lets meet at the gas station off hwy 20 a little farther north from the river. It is like 3 or 4 miles plus or minus 5 from the bridge. haha. Meet up at 8:30? Gives time to get the frost off and some sunlight.

I am performing at the Nu Generation Lanes on Onstott rd. Never been there before, but I do know the guys I will be performing with, and they all are some of the funniest guys in Northern California.

Thanks!

I probably won't make it; there's another hook-up for fishing Rancho Seco and I've been wanting to give that place a go.  It's much closer to me too.

Have fun!!
