Unfortunately I lost my Med-Heavy baitcaster after catching my first keeper sturgeon out at Rio Vista. Tried snagging it, but struck out. So now I'm in the market for a new (to me) rod/reel. I'm on a budget of around $100 or so, so anything in that general range would be great.

Thanks!

I'm really just looking for something cheap. My old rod was an Okuma that ran me $65

It was an Okuma Avenger reel I believe, got it as a combo.

Check out Cabela's.   They have several casting combos under $100 and shipping is $5 right now;

Ronnokk, I made a large purchase on some Seeker rods for my website, but
never had a chance to put them on, I sold 12 of them the first week I got them. Out of all the rods I bought, I only have a few left, and was selling them for $125.00 ea. That was a good price, I feel your pain my first trip out I lost a brand new pair of RayBan prescription glass, 2 days old. I know you want to keep it close to $100.00, But I will sell you one of the rods for $75.00
That was my cost. They are Seeker American Series 7' rods, I have 2 sizes
A 270 7' 15(20)25 LB.  or A 196 7' 10(15)20 LB. They are brand new never used. If that is not what your looking for no worries, they are going in my arsonal of rods.

Well...I admittedly don't know much about sturgeon. But I still have mad respect for them. And I fully appreciate your detailed reports & enthusiasm! So I'll see if I have anything in the garage that might work for you.

If you're interested in a non-levelwind reel, I have a new Quantum Great White GWT20. I bought it a few years ago and never used it. Loaded w/65lb Gorilla braid. It's just a little big for most of the fishing I do. But it would probably be tits for sturgeon. You can have it for $50 if you want it...Send me a PM. Unfortunately all my spare rods are too light for dinos.

Thanks for the offer Jeff, that is a really generous offer. However I think I'll have to pass on it for now in search of something a bit cheaper. Gotta love fishing on a budget  :smt044
