Love the battery tray idea.  Really cool.  One thing I'm sure you already know, but I will throw it out there: Ram Mounts has a part that replaces the factory mount for the elites with a ball that has the part that inserts to the back of the unit built on to it.  Super clean and leaves less bulk on the kayak when you detach the unit for storage.

http://www.rammount.com/NewProducts/lowanceelitemarkadaptermount/tabid/3929/Default.aspx

There is a 1.5" ball "heavy" version.  It also comes in a 1" version which is much better for the smaller units IMO.

Th new mounts are nice but I didn't have it in stock and customer didn't care to wait for it. Going with the old style mount gives you a few more inches of height also.

Great job on the rigging. Can you post a picture of the custom leaning bar? Is it like the Hobie H-Bar?

Hey Jeff, I like the battery tray.  Are you modifying the standard Hobie bin that comes with the kayaks?

Sweet setup on the battery tray...I'll look into doing this on my new outback.

I don't know how much clearance there is under the tray on a Pro Angler, but on my outback I velcroed the battery down to the hull under the tray and still have full use of the tray.  there is also enough room for the aligator clips to my solar trickle charger below the tray.  I don't mean to be critical, because I like your idea, but I am so anal that I would never give up that tray space.

Keep an eye out, Hobie has just released a factory drop in battery tray that can also be secured to the mast post. I'll get some photos up soon. Of all the battery set ups I've done this is the easiest. On my personal boat I quit using the tray and have gone with a set of Plano boxes. The boxes are velcroed in side the hull. I fit 4 boxes plus a small box for used scented baits so they don't get everything oily. I'm in a revo BTW
