Just got mine from the brown shirt guy last night.  Plugged it in to make sure it worked, and all went well... so I set about taking care of the waterproofing issues that have been documented.  Sealed up the SD slot... as for the Aux. port on the back, salty had mentioned home depot having a cap that works, but being impatient, I set about looking around the house for something that would work.  Found an old Blistex tube, the blue colored tube (don't think that matters) and the cap fits like it was made for it!  I trimmed about an 1/8in. off it so the profile was lower.  Inside the cap are a couple sealing rings that actually cause it to "snap" onto the back of the unit.  Put some dielectric grease on the contacts and added some marine silicone to the cap for good measure.  Anyway, awesome solution to a really stupid problem.

There are an endless number of hosehold items & solutions out there for sealing up the open ports on Lowrance units.  I have not found a need, yet, to further seal the door on the Elite 4 unit.  My first trip out, I took the unit off the mount & dunket it repeatedly in the saltwater and splashed it around to see if I could "force" the door top open or leak.  No problems with mine.

Yeah... it seems secure to me, I don't intend on using it however, so I figured what the hell.  I did it in such a manner that it can always be opened and used in the future anyway.

I didn't find a need to seal my card slot but others have noted that they did.  I believe they used a thin coat of silicone on the edge of the cap when they closed it.  Others, which I like better, have noted that they applied a piece of good quality tape over the cap to prevent it from opening.  Again, I tested mine & had no problems.  The "problem" I hear is the cap somehow opening & then letting water in.  I like the tape idea myself.

Yes, it does open when a sd card is in there. Thanks for your advice!

Pretty much what I did... put some around the seal, closed it, smeared some down into the grove around the cap, wiped off excess.  It will still open easily if I should desire, but no way it is ever going to come open accidentally... Like you said, better safe than sorry.  By the way, the screen is amazing!
