Pardon my ignorance but I have never used Powerbait.  What kind of hook should I use?

Not so much about the hook but you might like this...

A trick I learned last year camping at Blue lakes, Alpine. I accidentally left the cap off my garlic power bait from the day before. It dried out a bit and became a semi squishy hard block in the shape of the bottle. I sliced across it like bread and then sliced those into 3 equal sections, like strips. I slow trolled these strips and it stayed on the hook so much longer and I didn't notice a difference in the bite what so ever. I dry all my power bait out now to a texture that works for me. I'm going to mold some this year for small jig heads.

#10 was too small for me so I started using #8 J-hooks.  Used them successfully for both powerbait and egg/worm combos at Quarry and Shadow Cliffs.

You can use a single hook instead of a treble hook if you don't use the dough version of power bait and use the preformed pea sized version.  I do that with lures; I'll thread a preformed ball of power bait onto my line, attach my swivel, then my lure.  It's much easier than putting on scent every few casts and getting that stuff all over your hands.  You can also put the preformed ball of bait on the lure hook, but I've found that interferes with the lure's movement.

And great tip about drying out and cutting the dough bait into sizes.  I'll have to give that a try some time.

Not quite Rey, getting ready for HOW at Quarry on Friday.  Shame on the guy who killed that bass.

For just about all trout rigs, this is what I use.  Specifically baitholder hooks in red are my preference.  You dont need a treble to use dough bait, you can just press it on the hook. I use kind of a three finger press on all side of the dough with the hook.  That said, I dont really like to use dough.  The eggs are the best to me, and power worms. Just be SURE in either situation that it floats before you cast.

This sounds like a great tip that I'm gonna try soon.

Shame on the guy who killed that bass.

That's a little harsh.  Sounds like he tried to revive it.  He needs some edumacation on the finer points of fish handling.

Size 10 Gamagatsu baitholder, best I've used in years, also before buying power bait search report, otherwise you will end up jars and jars of useless bait. Chartreuse Spring Green and Rainbow works best for me, sometimes I combine 3
