I want to add a preferance line/statement near the names to help tie it all together on the yak.  Open to suggestions before I get the decals made tomorrow.  Have a spot for 2 different ones of fare size.  Came up with both of these last night:

For those we lost & those we saved...

Every kind of cancer needs a cure!

This whole idea & process has motivated me to do more.  I can't find or formulate the cure but sometimes the best cure is sharing & talking with those who survived and those who helped others to pass.

Again, from the bottom of my heart to all those who have read & contributed .... a sincere thank you!

Great thing you are doing here !     I like those two sentences together !   For those we lost & those we saved....every kind of cancer needs a cure !

My pops lost a kidney to cancer 2 yrs ago, so far he's doing OK ! Gets checked every 6 mo. and it hasn't showed up anywhere else yet....fingers crossed ! He is on medicare and didn't want to do the drug trial program. That's the only way you may or may not (placebo) get a drug treatment for Kidney cancer. He hates taking anything anyways and I know he wouldn't have kept up the oral treatment. I need to go fishing with my Pops soon !

My Sister in-law is battling Breast cancer right now. She has one more round of Chemo and is hanging in there ! She is only in her mid 40's and has a teenage son at home. It is hard to see a family go through this. I hope she beats it ! We are all praying for Sara !

Keep up the Good fight !
Thank you for bringing attention to finding a Cure !

It started with removing a kidney from my dad.  During his 6mo checkup, they discovered this rare type of cancer had spread through the blood.  He went through some expiramental stuff but it was a long shot.  If your dad is over the 6month mark, then it sounds like it's on the right path.  We hope they keep up the fight as we're all here to support them!

Your Namesake is always a very special person, and my son's is just that. When my wife was pregnant with my second son, she found out she had a very rare liver cysts. She was rushed to UC Davis and for weeks they did not know what to do. Her Cousin came by to see her everyday. They also opened up their home to me so I would have a place to stay at night so I could stay down there. He was always that type of person, family or not.
So when my son was born, His name was a no brainer, We named him Colton John, after my wifes cousin, John Paoli, we lost him last year to Cancer. This is a very cool thing that you are doing, and my family would be VERY honored to have his name on you kayak. John Paoli RIP 2012

Bill, get a hold of Glen / G-Whiz - he's got the tools for this kind of work.

Just finished adding 22 names to the hull of my yak.  I wish I could say it was the last 22 names we must bear but sorely, this will not be the truth.  I cannot post pictures till Monday.  Once I get it installed tomorrow, I'll post some pictures.  If I have missed a name, please let me know and I will add it at once.  If you wish to add the name of a loved one lost or saved, please let me know and I'd love to add it!

Thanks again to everyone for sharing your stories.  This process has helped me greatly and I hope it to do the same for you.

Thanks!

Bill

So, the kayak was delivered to Monterey last night to be part of a Lowrance electronics presentation on Thues evening & Wed's.  In the meantime, here are a few (all be it poor) images of the kayak in my garage while I was wrapping up the lettering and LATE night installation of a Lowrance Elite 7.  I'll try to snap some better shots later this week.

If you have a story & name(s), please keep them coming and I will add them as time goes on.  I plan to start a 'Guest Book' to carry with the stories you share and allow others to write in their own story.

Thanks to everyone for your support!

What an admirable gesture you are taking.  I think we all fear cancer to some degree.   However, people like you, Mooch and others that bring it out in the open, let us know there are survivors and individuals who are fighting it.

My Dad,  Samuel Shippey, died with throat cancer.  Very long and painful.  If you smoke or dip, please stop.  Your family will be able to love you longer.

What year?  I'd be honored to add his name.  I lost my grandfather to cancer brought about from smoking.  Christmas eve.  I was like 4 at the time.  Didn't realize what had happened at the time but I can, now, vaguely remember a gurney & white sheet.
