Easy launch in 1-2 ft's at 6:00 AM. Bait was around but not biting until the sun burned thru the fog, then anchovies were hiting the small sabiki. Joel, Jason, Joe, and Scott paddled out around 8:00 AM. We trolled the north side and Scott hooked something big and it broke his line after several minutes of a fight. Maybe a striper.
The wind started around 9:30 so I decided (wisely) to set anchor on the LM point while the others went south. The VHF radio coudn't transmit around the mountain so I didn't see them return and I left at 3:00. I only caught anchovies in 8 hr effort. Trolled Apex watermelon 3 miles for nada. Landing was dry in 2-3 fts.
Very curious about the rest of the story from the others. The wind was 15-20  knots in the afternoon, hope they parked a truck down there.
I'll attach a few pics tomorrow to this post.

Hi Craig - nice to finally meet you!

Joe / skyboy was the first to hook up while we were trolling for stripers - I set him up with an 8 ounce banana sinker and picked an anchovy pattern x-rap from his tackle box and long and behold = he hooks up with an under sized salmon - safely released (his first salmon on the yak). About a couple of hours later, we spotted birds working at Pedro Point. Jason and I got to the spot (around the 80 ft depth) before the rest joined us - the bait was thick and I hooked up with a shaker (trolling an 8 ounce banana sinker with a WMA - water melon apex) with 40 to 50 feet of line behind me. We continued to troll in circles around the bait ball but to no avail so we headed back. I hooked up again on the way back - just before we hit the cove. This time the fish actually got my clicker sounding so I really thought it was a keeper but again, it came up an inch short of doom :smt011

No more joy after that - but it was a very nice day to get some paddling done with a cool crew on top of that :smt002

Joe - glad you made it out!
Scott - hope you enjoyed your first kayak fishing experience - even though the salmon were not cooperating.
Jason - Thanks for giving me a great deal on my new Prowler!
Craig - nice kayak!!!

Will post pics this afternoon........

Good work! Mooch, how deep was the water where you trolled for stripers?

Greg and I tried in real shallow like often 30 feet or so, maybe that was a mistake?

Also, I'm not clear if your shaker was a salmon or a striper, I assume salmon?

Wish I could have got out again, I got some kind of congestion induced dizzyness,  :smt013.

Lindamar is looking up it seems!

For stripers, I trolled right next to the surfers but got nothing and so I paddled out for salmon with Jason at 80 ft. I believe Joe hooked up his shaker salmon in around 30 ft. of water.

Yes - the shaker was a salmon.

Jason did talk to one of the boaters and they said the salmon bite at HMB was HOT. Hopefully that bite will pass Linda Mar soon!

We also saw a party boat back up to the surf - on the North end of Linda Mar to fish for stripers. They did not stay long though.

.....as I was trolling for stripers just beyond the surf line, I managed to convince a starfish to attack my apex.....I took Chef / Steve's advise and sprayed some of that "axe spray" on my apex....sure enough, the female starfish made a move on my apex  :smt007 Good stuff right there  :smt002

Thanks Joel for the pic!!
This is the 1st season for it, finished it last Decenber.
So far it attracks women on the beach much more than fish, but if I fish next to you guys more the fish will eventually leap into the front hatch! :smt001
I've got some beach pics to post tomorrow. It will show more detail of the construction.
