OK everyone. I have had to keep this a secret for long enough. I wanted to tell everyone, but I couldn't until now.
In collaboration with a partner, I have developed a product that allows you to barely grip your paddle at all and yet you will get more power out of your stroke. No more sore hands, tendonitis, or any other ailments that go along with long or repetitive paddling. Makes those long salmon trips and trolling trips  lot easier and paddling against the wind doesn't take as much out of you either.
Your grip is the weakest part of your stroke. By eliminating the need for a tight grip, your stroke is stronger with less effort.
There is nothing out there like this. The patent has been already taken care of. That is why I can finally release it. It is also why I haven't been fishing so much.
This is the first timethe public has heard about it. We wanted NCKA members to have the first crack at them. Some members have tried them out. They can chime in on their effectiveness.
Here is what they look like:

You only need a slight grip from your thumb and forefinger for paddle orientation. The hook portion takes the place of your grip.
They float, will not corrode and they WORK!!!!!
I had serious tennis elbow from a combo of my job and paddling. This has allowed me to continue kayaking without a problem. My elbow problems are no longer an issue either.
These are made in a sweat shop. My sweat, my shop. I make every pair right now. They sell for $25 a pair plus $3 shipping. Not bad considering they cost us literally $250 a pair as of right now.
If you are interested PM me. I have about 30 pair available right now.
We will be donating a pair for the raffle at the Elk Tourney. I am glad I have a pair before then though.  :smt003

Mike offered a set for me to test drive at Rancho Seco. It's an amazing product.  He put a lot of thought and testing into these. I found there was a noticeable difference in how my arms and mostly wrists felt after a full day of paddling.
They are light and easy to use. I look forward to getting a set.

Looks like a great idea Mike do you take them off when you fish?

Looks like it would work great.  I'm curious as to how this is different than some of the devices I've seen in the gym for lat pulls other than perhaps it was made to not rust.

Looks like a wonderful aid for paddling.  I'm also curious  about how you fish with them

The principle is pretty much the same as what you are talking about in the gym. The same way all kayaks are the same in principle. You sit on them and they float.  But we all know not all kayaks are the same.
These are made of heavy duty polypropylene webbing. They do not absorb much water. They are much lighter than what you have seen in the gym. The buckle is designed so it will not interfere with the way your wrist naturally bends when you paddle. The hook is hinged so you can pull or push like you would in a normal paddle stroke. There is neoprene on the inside for comfort and floatability. This really makes a great difference as I lost one while ab diving and found it floating 30 feet away.
As far as wearing them while fishing. There is a tab on the end of the strap which makes for fast and easy removal. They can also be turned around so the hook part is on the back of your wrist if you prefer while reeling in a fish. The hook can also be folded down and tucked into the wristband if you wanted.
The diameter and angle of the hook will fit 99% of the paddles out there without slipping off the shaft while you paddle. Whether you have a round or oblong paddle shaft; it doesn't matter. If you use a feathered paddle or not, it doesn't matter.
Another difference between this and what a gym has is that this is designed to fit your hand and wrist in a natural paddling position.
You will find what works best for you while fishing, just like everything else.
The greateast advantage IMO to having these is for the long paddle out and back, or the paddle against the wind. You will JAM against the wind with these. You can paddle as hard as you can and your hands are totally unaffected.
I know someone who says that punching through the surf is a lot easier because of the increased power in the paddle stroke when using this.
I am confident it will catch on.

Tote,

Looks like a neat product.  There are a lot of kayaker's out there, so I hope you can connect with the mass "recreational paddlers" too, not just yak anglers.

Looking forward to receiving your product.  BTW, what are they called/product name?

Hi Tote,
Love the RoRows!!!  I would never paddle without them again.  I fish with them on, eventhough I can take them off and stow them easily enough onto the yak.  And, they do punch me nicely through the surf.  I never have tired or numb hands anymore.  They're also light for easy carrying and very comfy during my hours of paddling.  I've put a Timex Expedition fast wrap onto them, so I can tell when to turn around, too.  They still float with that little Timex, too!

We are calling the product RoRow's.
Pairs have already been donated for raffle at the HMB tourney, the Elk tourney, and the Neah Bay tourney in Washington.( North West Kayak Anglers )
See you there. Probably not Washington. Someday though.

Hey Tote,
I was taking a yak surfing class, so I wouldn't lose my yak as much on surf re-entry from angling, and I used the RoRows the whole time.  My yak surfing instructor who surfs all the time actually got tired before I did and went in.  The RoRows kept me going like the energizer bunny!!!
Today my arms and torso are sore, but my hands are just fine.  Very cool product!!!

Tote... great idea!  Thanks for donating for the Elk Raffle.  Hopefully you'll bring a bunch there to sell as well as I'm sure you'll sell a bunch of them.

Hopefully you can get some manufacturing channels set up... I'd be surprised if this little product doesn't take off like wildfire once the word gets around, especially if you can keep the price down around $25.

Good work...
