Red rock crab SF Bay

Huge swells everytime I find the time to kayak. Ive been craving crab for weeks but it hasn't been safe to go out past the golden gate bridge for dungies. I guess Ill have to settle for red rock crab inside the bay. Ive dropped hoops from fort point and municipal pier but it never get too many. Also I get super frustrated at all the poachers taking dungies. At Linda mar I get lots of big red rock crab in the off season. Can I get good results inside the bay from a yak or are there just not as many crawling the rocks here? Also how far up the bay do they go?

I think they are all over the Bay depending on the bottom structure.
This guy held on to a carolina rigged grass shrimp while fishing at ARW last year.
