As a conintuation of my prefvious post abpout finding out more about biological family.  I went to Marin Yesterday to meet my "Aunt & Uncle."  I have to say I have been less nervous about meeting peoples parents.  I could not have asked for a better visit.  A lot of questions got answered got some pictures, found out some things.  New questions popped up (to difficult to describe in mere words).  We ended up staying for dinner that was great and dranl a fair amoun tof some good wine.  New Aunt had talked to my half sister, but that one will take time.  The thought is she will come round  eventuly, but I know it must of been a shock to her to find out after 40+ years that Mom had a secret and didn't share with you, even on her death bed.  So I can only imagine what that sting is like.  We will see what time holds in that one.  Uncle goes free diving and already trying to talk me into it.  Fear not Big Jim and Fuzzy, you have nothing to fear from me.  We might even get to do a crabbing here this month as he has wanted to try to crab from kayaks.  Weather permitting I may get out there.

I missed your previous post, but it sounds like you had a good gathering!

I have two uncles who were adopted - one was very set on finding his biological parents and the other had no interest in the idea at all (they came from different families - my grandparents were foster parents for many years and ended up adopting two of my uncles).

The one that searched out his roots ended up finding his birth mother, but it didn't go so well... after meeting her, he determined that there was a very good reason why he wasn't raised by her and that his adoptive parents were truly a blessing. I think he was just curious, and although he didn't really know what to expect, he just wanted to see what was behind that door (even though in his case, he prompty closed it again once he saw what was there, haha).

When I see my relatives at holidays, I have to laugh - I am reminded each time exactly why I ONLY see these folks once a year   :smt044  'Not that they are bad people, but even being related by blood or marriage doesn't mean we have a lot in common or tend to think the same way. People are people, all different, whether they are related to us or not.

Also, about your half sister and mom - yeah, I can imagine that would be difficult. My only thought is that "mom's" are people too, and she probably had a good reason at the time not to share (although that reason might not exist now). Even though I don't know the circumstances, I hope your half-sister doesn't take it personally  - it likely had nothing to do with her or the relationship she had with her mom.

New Uncle said I got the better end of the deal by far.  Seems BioMom's husbands could be some jacka**es.  I ended up with cool Bio-Aunt and Uncle (not even sure if that is real term if not I coined it today!)
