It's not the best but I believe Pleasure Cove still has its contract with camping available. Knoxville just to the north is DFG and BLM land some campsites are in the BLM spot about 30 Min north or Primitive camping is allowed 150 yards off the road throughout the region. It will be Turkey season though I believe so some additional traffic may be in the area. Lastly a bunch of ranch property's are on the east side. It's a long shot but some sort of private rental may be possible through a property owner. But that is quite a long shot. Might be able to get some names if that would help.

Pore is correct, I was just going to jump into the thread and suggest pleasure cove.  It is not cheap, but they have great camping there.

:smt011..This really grinds my gears, I don't know why these feds and lake berryessa can't get there shit together. Its obvious most people wanna camp and not show up for just a day at Berry, but it just can't happen this year. If we do a one day event, it will be a minimal turnout! The BSS Events were a major success and many seemed to enjoy. I would hate to see this years event be a so so event. Its not are fault BOR can't get there shit together so this is what I Impose:
I started the SLAM with the goal to help others learn more about Land Locked Salmon(s) and the great fisheries CA can offer for these fish. With that it mind,
the Slam's main focus MUST be about getting kayak
anglers an opportunity to learn and fish for inland     salmon.Soooo...I say for this year we move the slam to another lake where inland salmon are available. And there's two lakes ONLY that I have in mind that can offer a great fishery like berryessa..Either Oroville or Don Pedro. Oroville is a great alternative because its Loaded with Coho salmon which are easy to catch in the early season. Plus there's many campgrounds to choose from
Don Pedro is a Fantastic Alternative because like Berry, it offers kings Kokanee Trout and all the other warm water fisheys.  And they have camping available and its Nicely Centrally located where many anglers can get to.

I SAY keep the New Melones event in the FRESHKATS series. Most of us enjoy that lake already. Lets keep the slam special and keep its focus at somewhere where it offers everything like Berry!

Sounds great to me Ricci! I guess I missed that there was already a NM tourney out there, but LDP sounds like a good alternative for the Salmon Slam.  Didn't know there were kokes at LDP either!  That makes it even more exciting to me, since I am really wanting to do more koke and salmon fishing this spring.

JIM START A POLL AND LETS SEE WHAT OTHERS WANT TO DO THIS YEAR...
Keep it at Berry for a one day event
Oroville
or Don Pedro

March is a lil early and almost risky because of Wx..April or May has to be the months. Any later the kokes/salmons go deeper in return get harder to fish for off of a yak and not mention the the summer time infestation of Pb's and jet skis otw!! Lets hear your Opinions NCKA.

Bummer on the camping situation @ Berry. Because a 1-day event wouldn't be the same. Plus, I think there was a possibility the AOTY awards were going to be held on that Sunday @ Berry.
If I had a vote, I'd go for DP. Heck...last time we were there, Al caught a salmon and we didn't even know what we were doing!
Plus, it's got decent campgrounds. And it's kinda central to most folks. So attendance would probably be good. And then if Jim & Ricci were ok with it, maybe we could still do the aoty awards deal on that Sunday.

I hate to see Berry put on the shelf, but it makes sense to move it. Ricci is right about the focus, so I believe that LDP is the best location for all. Oroville has a great fishery, but is a long haul for the bay guys. Nice for me though. LDP should be about 2-3 hours worst case for most. Some much closer.

+1 for LDP and +1 for moccasin point
Smaller launch less busy with camp grounds.

I would think Moccasin also as there is much less boat traffic but I think salmon are mostly caught in the main body near Fleming Meadows.

I'll start working on Lake Don Pedro, Moccasin Point and see what impacts that might have on sponsorships...
the date will be the same.

I'll post an update on Thursday the 28th

No desire to host at Pleasure Cove at Berryessa?  I know they still have camping.  It might add some spice as it opens up the dam for deep kings and the narrows for trout while still keeping the ranch house a possibility for Kokanee.

Just a thought before resorting to changing the venue.
