Anyone ever live here and could give some insight as to how it is. My wife was offered a great position and just trying to get a comfort level on to what to expect. This would be in the Wilmington area to Snead Ferry.
thanks

I grew up in Jersey, and tell my wife, if either of us were to get a job on the east coast it would either be Maine or North Carolina. I have spend time there in the eastern part of the state and I love it's coastline, estuaries and feel. I am not too familiar with that area and its been about 10 yrs since I have been, people I know seem to really dig most parts of the state.

My nephew is stationed there, but he is on his 3rd tour to Afganistan. We did visit him a couple years ago and enjoyed it. Of course that was only for 1 day, so not a great sourse of info.

Humid and rainy summers, but very pretty. The winters are fairly cold and super beautiful autumns. That was inland more in the Charlotte area though. Hurricanes?

I was looking at moving to NC for awhile.  There's a fair amount of employment, nice cheap homes on big lots, a lot of natural beauty, and good fishing/hunting opportuniies.  The weather is definately more severe, but seriously there is probably only a handful of places in the world that have it as good as we do weatherwise, so its hard to compare.  I've thought about leaving California a few times, but it is HARD!  Good luck.

Yes outdoor opportunities galore. Titty bars on every corner. Rednecks abound. Hurricanes, humidity, did I mention rednecks?

I've always considered this a place I'd move too. They even have a steelhead and salmon run in the fall.

I have family there and have visited.  It's a nice place and I wouldn't mind living there.  Big adjustment from California, tho!  Ca. has assholes, they have racist crackers, (big shocker even to me, someone with a lot of redneck in my local relations).  Pick yer poison.

I lived there for a while, one of the sportsman paradise, I lived in Morehead city, on the coast, NC is three different places, the coast, the piedmont, like where Charlette is, and the mountains, Table Rock in the middle of the smokeys. Great place, lots of rednecks but tons of out of state folks moving cause it's cheep, there is work, lots of tech schools, military towns. Huge swamps full of critters, And an ocean full of big fish. Where are you thinking?

If you're a homeowner, don't sell the house, in case you find theeast coast environment is not for you.
