I have studied the techniques of the some great free divers in 2012 and here are a couple things that I picked up along the way.

BigJim needs a ride early in the morning, gets in the water before you and gets the fish 

Sharkbait gets around too fast, can't keep up

Fuzz has lost my number

Spinaltap who? Very elusive guy

Very competitive group of guys here, no matter what they say online.

Make sure that perch is big enough, it may be a big deciding factor

LOL! This is true....I remember at T2B1...I shot that 36 inch Ling on my first dive and you were still gearing up on the yak!

Good advice to your competitor 

It is a horrible feeling when you have to let someone know that their picture is not good enough, and even though you believe them and all their buddies who saw the fish, that you have to DQ it.   

That's the one part about DOTY that I don't like cuz I don't want people to be bummed at all about their accomplishments....but it is necessary to keep the playing field fair and level for all. 

I told fuzz he should be the "pic Nazi" since he is not competing this year.

bloodbath vs Desertdiver for 2013 DOTY Polespear champion!

Any fish not taken with polespear do not count towards points (honor system), and abalone will not count either. Should be easy to add up at end? 

I have a 3 piece bad ass pole spear that I recovered from the depths that I will give as prize to the 2013 DOTY PoleSpear Champ!! Great spear with good mojo.    
I will bring it on 2/23 to show you guys! Joe you've seen it, and I think you still have the band I gave you off of it too!

To clarify for Joe who just called me all confused:

I was thinking:

-Points from any fish taken by polespear count for the DOTY 2013 PoleSpear Champion Contest (PSCC)
-Points from any fish NOT taken by Polespear do NOT count (so if Joe busts out the neptonics gun and blasts a big Ling, the points from the Ling would NOT count for the DOTY 2013 PSCC).
-Points from Abalone would not count (since abs aren't taken by spear...duh  ).
-Honor system
-All DOTY rules apply of course
-Informal side comp, we can just add up at points at end of year
-Anybody else besides bloodbath and DesertDiver can play along as well, just let me know and put pole spear in the remarks of your fish.
-Winner gets the PoleSpear I am donating.
